[Gamefound] Degenesis: Clan Wars Brettspiel von SMV und CMON

Following SMV legal action, campaign cancellations and full refunds to follow
Dear backers, it is with great difficulty that we bring you this update today.

CAMPAIGN AND PROGRESS
Both CMON and SMV poured everything we had into Degenesis: Clan Wars, before, during, and after the campaign. The writers, designers, proofreaders, editors, and layout teams have spent thousands of cumulative hours working on Clan Wars.

Internally, our graphics team has been moving through the dense files, preparing them for print, with constant creative and technical effort going into the massive campaign books, operative dashboards, cards, tokens, and environmental design.

We paid our factories, who had finished the mold work for the core box miniatures, and started work on all the remaining plastic. Our vac tray layouts were completed and were about to go into sampling. The core game was nearing readiness, and we were midway through processing and editing the remaining expansions and components.

However, while we were actively working on production, we received a demand from SMV for a sum of over the total comapaign value, inclusive of advances CMON had already paid. This also included a number of expenditures that were not part of our agreement.

We have held up our end of the contract, paid SMV advances as agreed, and have continued to dedicate our own resources to bring this project to its current point. CMON has officially fulfilled all contractual and financial obligations to SIXMOREVODKA (SMV) for Degenesis: Clan Wars to date.

What began as a collaborative and respectful relationship quickly became one in which legal channels were the only remaining form of contact. After our last update in February, it was necessary to limit backer communications due to these legal proceedings.

Ultimately, SMV made the decision to terminate our agreement, unilaterally, with no breach of contract on our part.

WHAT THIS MEANS FOR BACKERS
After an extended period of review, negotiations, and legal complications, Degenesis: Clan Wars will officially be cancelled.

We did not anticipate this escalation and held out hope that a resolution would be possible; it has not been. This is not the outcome any of us hoped for. It’s a decision that comes at the end of years of hard work, emotional investment, and escalating complications that ultimately made continuing impossible.

REFUNDS
To be very clear, the responsibility for the delivery of this project lies with CMON and SMV. Each of you backed us in good faith, and you deserve to be compensated whole. We will honor that agreement and provide 100% refunds for the remaining backers for the project.

Pending final legal resolution, we will reach out to you with instructions to initiate the refund process accordingly. We are currently coordinating with the legal teams involved to ensure everything proceeds smoothly and without missteps.

Lastly, thank you for standing with us through this journey. It’s painful to fall short of a project so creatively rich and ambitious after coming so far. We will be present in the comments to answer questions, clarify anything we can, and be transparent with you within legal reason throughout the next steps.
