Modelling and Painting
Painting is required at the Atlantic City Open. Players must paint their models to a three-color minimum, which means the model must have three distinct colors applied to them. This does not include details on the base or colors applied to the base. If used as a base color, exposed primer is acceptable, as well as inks or washes used to shade the miniature. Speed paints, as they also shade the miniature with texture, can be used as two colors in this regard. Finished bases have a single color applied to them or are painted and textured. In either case, they should also have their front arc clearly defined.
Whenever possible, at least 80% of each mini in use on the table should be a mini currently available for purchase by players from either CGL or Iron Wind Metals. Older miniatures from CGL, Iron Wind Metals or Ral Partha are also acceptable. You may not use any miniature produced from another company, reproduction minis from a non-official mold, or 3D printed miniatures. You may 3D print arms if you wish, but 80% of the model must be from the original mini you are trying to represent.
Whenever possible, the mini required for your unit must match the chassis on the record sheet, otherwise known as making sure the mini on the table represents the character in the game as closely as possible. You may use one variant to represent another variant of the same chassis. It is also acceptable to use an official cardboard token (i.e. cardboard standee) as long as what it represents is clear to all players and does not interfere with gameplay.
