She bent down and picked up the little rat which had felled the drunkard, tenderly stroking its little furry head. No, she was not alone. She was never alone. Her friends were always with her and looked up to her. She would guide and lead them. As their best friend. As the first among equals. As their lady. As their queen.
Fidanzata is an animal handler and can control between 0 and 3 rat swarms who will fight for her.
She is a mercenary and can be hired by any crew except the Imperial Armada.

Arrr! is only the beginning
Dear Freebooters and friends of creative nautical swearing!
Like every year, “Talk like a pirate day” is coming up again on 19 September 2011. We’d like to take this opportunity to put your pirateyness to the test. Since we are aware that pirates are best motivated by booty, there will be a reward.
We are looking for the most creative piratey/nautical curse. But before you set your keyboard glowing, we are looking for a curse that fits Freebooter’s Fate. This means:
The expression must be somehow linked to the sea, maritime activity or pirates in the broadest sense of the word. This includes elements with a Caribbean flair.
The curse has to be “grandmother-proof”. So, please no vulgar scatological expressions, no unsubtle sexual references and no racism or other form of discrimination.
Examples from the treasure chests of the Freebooter Miniatures team:
“You son of a gammy seagull!”
“Seaweed-brain!”
“Ye dull-witted spawn of Fate’s cesspit!”
The winner will be chosen by a panel from our team. The author of the curse we like the best will receive a miniature of “Regicide”, the hot-blooded pirate leader, complete with Freebooter’s Fate character card signed by Werner Klocke.
If the curse is especially good and we get your permission, we’ll even use it in a Freebooter’s Fate publication. Giving you credit as the author, if you agree. So, metally goodness and notoriety, how could you pass up an opportunity like that?

Our decision about the winning entry is final and binding. Please send us your postal address only once we have contacted you as the winner. All email addresses and other personal data made available to us in the framework of this competition will be used exclusively to contact the eventual winner in order to send them their prize and will be deleted after the competition has ended. We also assume that the submissions are not targeted at us.

Liebe Freebooter und Freunde des kreativen Seemannfluches!
Am 19. September 2011 ist wieder der alljährliche „Talk like a pirate day“. Diesen Anlass möchten wir nutzen, eure Piratigkeit auf die Probe zu stellen. Da wir wissen, dass Piraten nichts ohne Aussicht auf Beute tun, gibt es auch eine Belohnung.
Wir suchen den kreativsten Piraten-/Seemannsfluch. Aber bevor eure Tastatur jetzt zu glühen beginnt: wir suchen einen zu Freebooter’s Fate passenden Fluch. Im Klartext bedeutet dies:
Der Ausdruck muss einen Bezug zur See, Seefahrt, oder Piraten im weitesten Sinne haben. Hierzu zählen auch Elemente mit karibischem Touch.
Der Fluch muss „großmuttersicher“ sein. Also, bitte keine Fäkalsprache, keine unsubtilen sexuellen Anspielungen und keine rassistischen oder anderweitig diskriminierenden Leitmotive.
Beispiele aus dem Fundus des Freebooter Miniatures Teams:
„Du Sohn einer vergammelten Seemöwe!“
„Tanghirn!“
„Du schleimiger Pilzbefall auf des Schicksals Latrine!“
Der Gewinner wird von uns per Jury ermittelt. Der Autor/ die Autorin des uns am besten gefallenden Fluches erhält eine Figur „Regicide“, der heißblütigen Piratenanführerin, mit von Werner Klocke signierter Charakterkarte für Freebooter’s Fate.
Wenn der Fluch ausgesprochen gut ist und ihr uns die Erlaubnis gebt, werden wir ihn sogar in einer Freebooter’s Fate Veröffentlichung verwenden. Selbstverständlich mit Hinweis auf euch als Autor, wenn Ihr wollt.

Bemalung folgt in Kürze
Da er zu nichts anderem mehr zu gebrauchen war, wurde aus ihm der Hofnarr. Seither beschützt er die Comtessa bis zur Selbstaufgabe mit seinem Leben. Er wirft sich heldenhaft ohne zu zögern in den Weg jeder Kugel, jeden Schwertstreichs und jedes Frosches, der der Comtessa gefährlich werden könnte.
Der Narr ist ein Spezialist und kann einmal pro Mannschaft für 35 Dublonen angeheuert werden. Er kann jedoch nur angeheuert werden, wenn sich auch die Comtessa in der Mannschaft befindet.
Der Figur liegt die Charakterkarte mit allen für Freebooter’s Fate benötigten Spielwerten bei.
Der Figurenbausatz besteht aus 5 Teilen und hat eine Gesamthöhe von ca. 31 mm. Der Körper von Kopf bis Fuß hat eine Höhe von ca. 28 mm.
Die Figur wird unbemalt und in Einzelteilen geliefert und muss noch zusammengebaut werden.
Die einzelnen Teile sind auf Anfrage auch separat erhältlich.

News from the Jungle

Freebooter’s Fate expansion book “Deep Jungle” goes to printer!
More of the year has passed than we’d envisaged, unfortunately. We do believe, however, that the additional time and effort were worth it. And now we’re almost there, the German version of the book has just gone to the printers and the English translation is set to follow hot on its heels, being in the final stages of layout. So it’s not going to be long before the first copies become available so that you too can play with new characters, new additional rules, re-worked terrain rules and new scenarios. Many thanks for your patience and many thanks to all helpers, players, fans and customers, without whom there would have been no second book.

This year’s Spiel Essen limited edition miniature is a small diorama: LIM 012 “Bait!”. It is limited to 1,000 castings and will be released on Thursday, 20 October 2011 at Spiel Essen. It will be available in the Freebooter online shop from 25 October onwards.

Sneak Peek AMA 009

Preview AMA 009 Greens
No, this is not the announcement of a new release yet, but a surreptitious little preview, sneakily nicked off Werner’s desk (well, if you can call it surreptitious and sneaky when he’s the one taking the photos).
Next to some half-finished greens (which we’re not going to show you quite yet – nyah, nyah, nyah!), there was a fully-fledged sculpt of our Amazon mantis warrior Macati (AMA009), which we’re proud to present here. And didn’t she turn out gorgeous?
Unfortunately, we can’t give you a release date yet, so you’ll have to be content with these pics for the time being. Cruel, we know, but we are called Freebooter Miniatures after all and pirate is as pirate does. Arr!

also mir gefällt die Idee und vor allem die Mini. Ich finde es bei den Amazonen recht cool, eine gewissen "Naturverbundenheit" in den Minis wider zu finden. War auch schon bei der Kroko-Rüstung so.

Der Tonfall des alten Mannes ließ Pedro aufhorchen und er erstarrte mitten in einem weiteren hüpfenden Sprung und sah ihn sich genauer an. Es schien nicht viel von ihm übrig zu sein, vor allem seine Beine nicht. Er, nun ja, saß in einem tiefliegenden Karren und hielt in jeder Hand ein Brett mit Handgriff, die er zu benutzen schien, um das Gefährt zu bewegen. An die Seiten des Karrens waren zwei Holzbeine und zwei Krücken geschnallt, die offensichtlich eine alternative Möglichkeit zur Fortbewegung waren.

So führt Freebooter den neusten Charakter für die Piraten bei Freebooter's Fate ein.

Neue Dodos, Objekte, Calvario, Momma Fiora, Tzinaka und einen Pin

Ahoy Santas and Santresses, the holidays draw near and we have made a little list for you what might look nice under the christmas palm tree on deck.

Dodos can be used for a delicious roast, as pet for the children or playmate of your dog and when nothing else is appropriate for the Dodo hunt scenario (strikingly obvious, isn`t it?). Secondary objectives can be fun on every boring holiday event: light the candles on the tree without setting it ablaze, ask for a second helping without bursting at the seams etc. Well ok, our objectives are more of the game achievement sort, not for family festivities.


For the La Noche des Brujas we have Calvario Vigueta and his Balagonecos, Momma Fiara and Tzinaka. Little Pete had to be pushed behind, as our production department is severely suffering from scurvy. The little fella will instead be released in January. Those of you who read our previous news carefully have noted, that we are releasing a third “Tales-Character” instead this month. Finally as promised there is our Freebooter Pin. What, six new releases is not enough? Well then. Capt’n, go to the brig, sculpt faster!
