Specialist Games

Comissar - Warseer Forum

Andy Hoare is going to be the new head of Specalist Games, and he told me at the birthday thing that Epic was the game he was most looking forward to working on. I could see it being an obvious second choice after Blood Bowl. Forgeworld used to make some really nice Epic versions of their 40k kits.

He also mentioned he wanted to make it more about Titans fighting other Titans.

Forge World are also taking over Hobbit/Lord of the Rings allthough that isn't being headed up by Andy Hoare. Some other Guy. Seems like Forge world is going to be devided into three rules development teams. 30k and 40k under Alan Bligh, Specialist Games, under Andy Hoare. and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit. With Tony Cottrell overseeing all three branches.

The other impression I got, was that at least for blood bowl, The initial boxed set will be created like a GW studio product. Plastic teams and such. And then all the support products will be Resin. In the same way, there is now a HH boxed game produced by the studio.

We learnt some valuable lessons during the year on how to deliver product system changes on this scale and as we released more of the range in the second half of the year, we finished the year with sales of Warhammer: Age of Sigmar at a higher rate than Warhammer has enjoyed for several years.

After a disappointing December we carried out a thorough review of our operational plans and, thanks to a great team effort, we bounced back with four out of five months of profitable sales growth.

During the year, I carried out a review of our product strategy. As a direct result, we now offer our models at a broader range of price points. We have piloted a small 'Start Collecting' range of models that have sold well.

We have also introduced some stand alone high value box games, a simple gateway into Games Workshop product; they too have been a hit. We will continue to seek to improve our product offer and be more customer focussed in 2016/17.

We launched a dispenser of eight products called Battle for Vedros in toy shops in North America in June 2016 and will launch a small range called Build and Paint globally in modelling and toy shops later in 2016/17.

Farben / Matte

Die am Samstag vorbestellbaren Sachen sind ja bereits aus dem WD und dem Video bekannt

Grotorderly Blog

New on offer will be eleven Texture Paints in bigger, 24ml pots, +10%.
Aparently there is some kind of dispenser to be got if you buy the whole set plus additional 5% discount.

From other news we got Genestealer Cults: Leman Russ and Neophyte Hybrid Armoured Claw.
First is just a regular Leman Russ with an upgrade sprue, the other is ten Shock Troopers with Chimera and again, an upgrade sprue with heads, guns and such.

Citadel Texture Paint - 4,50 GBP / 6 EUR
Genestealer Cults: Leman Russ - 32 GBP / 42 EUR
Neophyte Hybrid Armoured Claw - 35 GBP / 45 EUR

Unfortunately there's nothing more... well... except for the fact that there is another mat coming from GW. This time it's again a 4x4 mat but with Khorne theme to it.

A while ago a rumour came out of Miniwars.eu. It is as follows

Blood Bowl comes in pre-order on November 18th. Expect a mega party in stores and hobby centers as if it were a superbowl party: it will be a big release. merchandising with flags, pins, foam fingers and so on.

Christmas: Start Collecting Premium boxes: packs to build a pretty decent army. For example if a force now can cost about 280 $ with the new Start Collecting will be priced at ≈145$. Lots of minis, including heroes and monstrous creatures.

New scenery at competitive prices.

New sets of bases for heroes. Also competitive prices.

Packs of new paints and new line of Citadel Pigments.

There will be many more events throughout the year ahead. Sales and cut prices too.

Finally: Magnus the Red arrives on Christmas (date to be confirmed).

A user on bolter on chainsword confirmed the following:

Confirmed in November WD ;

New scenery : Haemotrope Reactors (40k), Magewrath Throne & Balewind Vortex (AoS)

for the reactors, think Star Wars Echo base (semi-circular) but with Mechanicum gubbinz

Hero bases : 2 sets (40k - 8pcs and AoS - 11pcs)

Regards,

Old-Four-Arms

How extensive are these hero bases? Forge World character series size?

1x 60mm (shattered Leman Russ turret)
5x 40mm (1. iron stairs, 2. rubble with barrel, 3. rubble with aquila head, 4. rubble with crate/jerrycans, 5. iron platform on pipeline)
2x 32mm (1. rubble with Ork rokkit, 2. twisted iron girders)

Regards,

Old-Four-Arms

Given this info it seems likely that the other rumours are true as well.

Aside from the depressing lack of AOS stuff it sounds pretty good.
