thanks to wesadie1969 on BoW who spotted them. It does seem to suggest GW has re-upped for a Tolkein licence of some sort (wonder if they're going back to the older LoTR one which might be cheaper and more flexible? and not keep them lumbered with the slightly ropey hobbit movie designs)

Epic

Comissar - Warseer Forum

Andy Hoare is going to be the new head of Specalist Games, and he told me at the birthday thing that Epic was the game he was most looking forward to working on. I could see it being an obvious second choice after Blood Bowl. Forgeworld used to make some really nice Epic versions of their 40k kits.

He also mentioned he wanted to make it more about Titans fighting other Titans.

Forge World are also taking over Hobbit/Lord of the Rings allthough that isn't being headed up by Andy Hoare. Some other Guy. Seems like Forge world is going to be devided into three rules development teams. 30k and 40k under Alan Bligh, Specialist Games, under Andy Hoare. and Lord of the Rings/Hobbit. With Tony Cottrell overseeing all three branches.

The other impression I got, was that at least for blood bowl, The initial boxed set will be created like a GW studio product. Plastic teams and such. And then all the support products will be Resin. In the same way, there is now a HH boxed game produced by the studio.

we already had that pic earlier in the thread, and it's just a downscaled version made by FW "for fun"

it's actually pretty easy to make up/down-scaled FW models, they also used an upscaled version of Guilliman for a diorama.

but yeah, FW is working on specialist games stuff, althought we should see an old and a new game before this stuff afaik

'Aeronautica Imperialis'

Nachdem ihre Gerüchte über einen Tyraniden-Codex mit Psi-Fokus im Herbst falsch waren, ist das hier mit Vorsicht zu genießen:

Via Atia im B&C Forum

Adeptus Astartes (FB)

from "The Eye" at GWHQ.

"Prepare yourself for a new boardgame involving flyers from all of the factions. It's call warplane or something like that, I'll get the name tomorrow as I forgot it... but you can play eldar, chaos, space marine and orks"

The first "specialist game" to be released and will be announced any time now!

Posters have been seen in the staff areas at GWHQ.

basically the concept of the old Aeronautica Imperialis

Mal sehen was da tatsächlich dran ist

Das Original Aeronautica Imperialis hatte den selben Masstab wie Epic (6mm) da man die selben FW-Fliegermodelle nutzte, die eben für Epic gedacht waren.

[edit]

Atia auf B&C:

Yeah, they already said Adeptus Titanicus may happen a bit before Blood Bowl since they can scale down their own Titan models via CAD 3D - just need to do rules and board-tiles (or scenery)

Atia in den Kommentaren bei Faeit 212:

And no, Blood Bowl is currently in the works yes, but we may see one to two other things before that ....

So yeah to go back on topic - they said EPIC may appear before Blood Bowl since it's rather easy to do - also that Adeptus Titanicus would be the classic titans vs titans game set in 30k.

I know they are working on the EPIC and BB stuff, hence why i wouldn't be surprised to see a re-release of Aeronautica, since it was Forgeworlds baby back then ^^

Epic - vom Horus Heresy Weekender Event GW/FW

Col.hertford auf B&C:

I got a few bits on this at the weekender.

Adeptus titanicus will not be a reissue of epic. It is highly likely to be set in the Horus Heresy.

Darren said he would like to make the Titans as 28mm CGI models then Shrink down.

Scale is not set, but from the comments, 6mm is not currently favoured.

Someone asked about BFG being HH and it has not been ruled out.

Mark has been doing a lot of prototyping for blood bowl, but is now helping out the rest of the team with concept drawings for 30k/40k.

Blood Bowl (Release Ende 2016 / Anfang 2017) sowie Adeptus Titanicus: The Horus Heresy (danach)

At GW’s Warhammer Fest this weekend, Andy Hoare and James Hewitt were in attendance. Andy is Head of the Specialist Games Division, and James is heading up the development of Blood Bowl. Many people have posted the results of their conversations on social media. Hopefully this is the best summary of various sources, and will be updated as more information is released. We won’t reproduce pictures, but have linked to them at the bottom.

  • BB will be released at the latest Q1 2017, though more likely to be 2016.
  • The box set will contain orc and human teams (12 player, starter teams) and the core rules, 2 double sided dugouts and one double sided pitch giving both orc and human themes, 2 sets of dice one blue and one green (3x Block, 2x D6, 1x D8 and 1x D16, the designs are which are still being finalised), 4 Star player cards (Griff, Zug, Varag & Morg), team tokens to use for turn, reroll, score etc, throw, scatter and throw in templates and the first part of an eventually complete set of Special Play cards.
  • The core rules will be the CRP. There will be no changes. This has been confirmed a great many times.
  • League rules will be part of a Death Zone supplement, released on the same day as the box set. The DZ supplement will contain full rosters for 7 teams. This will include 4 more plastic teams: Nurgle, Dwarf, Skaven, and Elf Union (Pro Elf). The others remain a secret for now. It will also contain rules and complete backgrounds for 20 Star Players, a couple of whom are new additions.
  • League rules are the same as the CRP, so once again the game remains the game we know and love. However, additional content has been added. Some of this was written by Jervis a few years ago, some is new. The intention is to add more narrative and more fun to leagues, adding new ways to play. This will very much be the theme going forward; to add to league play with variations and options whilst sticking with the core game we know and love.
  • There are more supplements planned and more content to come. Supplements will bring in more rosters we recognise from the CRP complete with new models, along with new and old star players, all in resin, until all 21 teams are available, and more.
  • Special Play cards will be released in due course, along with Star Player cards, again to give a complete deck.
  • The rate at which new supplements is released depends upon sales and being able to fit them into the release schedule alongside AoS and 40k releases.
  • There is no reason to expect new teams to follow Cyanide’s past releases. The team have their own plans influenced by their love of the game and the setting.
  • Plastic teams will be added to with resin releases to fill out positionals, Big Guys, etc..
  • Star Players will be released in Resin.
  • Some plastic teams will receive resin conversion kits which will enable players to build famous teams should they wish. These teams may be supported by additional rules in later league supplements.
  • The pitch will have 32 mm squares, rather than the current 29mm, but the square count will be the same. The total length will be about 8cm longer than currently. The box will contain a larger range ruler to match the larger squares, made in hard plastic rather than the classic flexible one. The board in the box will be hard cardboard, double sided with 2 different pitches, and folding into 6.
  • The miniatures are slightly larger than in previous editions, but we must remember that the previous edition was released in 1994. To give an idea of scale, the humans are about 30mm to the eye level, the same scale as current 40k Guardsmen. Orcs are the same size as current orcs for other ranges, and Black orcs are big, bad ST4 models.
  • Bases for the new figures are 32mm, which is a style choice. There is nothing preventing the use of 25mm bases or any size you choose. Size of miniatures is also a style choice.
  • The miniatures’ bases will have holes in that the ball can be attached to. There are a lot of balls in the starter set, and balls have their own optional rules based on who they belong to (biting orc squig ball?).
  • The setting remains the same. What does that mean? Well, Blood Bowl has always been set in an alternative Warhammer World where football has replaced war. It’s a grim, darkly humorous pastiche of the Warhammer setting and that isn’t changing. More importantly it is being expanded upon by a team of people who have known and loved the Warhammer World for many years. As an example Eldril Sidewinder has had his original background restored, he is a Sea Elf Wardancer turned to football, and his Hypnotic Gaze is a racial ability to mesmerize others that Wood and Sea Elf Wardancers possessed in WFB 3rd edition.
  • There will be new pitches, possibly even in neoprene (mouse mat material). The plan is to release racial pitches to tie in with all the teams. Also, there is a hidden Easter Egg present on all pitches which in due course might give a hint to potential new DungeonBowl league rules still in the planning stages.
  • The Specialist Brands Studio plans to support the community through supporting gaming and events, be they in stores or elsewhere. Plans are being laid to offer sideline staff as exclusive miniatures at events or for a set period of time, something Forge World already does with its Event Exclusive miniatures.
  • No information yet on price points, although the starter set has been kept deliberately light to ensure the price point is much lower than some other recent releases.

  • Core rules deal with just the teams in the starter set; Humans and Orcs.
  • Deathzone (a book, not a box) is released on the same day. It contains league rules and rosters for 7 teams plus 20 Stars.
  • 4 of these are plastic teams (making 6 plastic teams in total): Skaven, Dwarf, Elf, and Nurgle (released separately as single team boxes).
  • The rest will be resin. They're keeping the unnamed ones as a surprise for now along with the names of the Stars. Surprises are nice.
  • These are all CRP teams. They aren't changing the rosters.
  • Plastic teams will get resin additions, so a resin troll and stuff. Resin teams, I haven't actually asked if they'll be full team boxes or a starting team with boosters.

  • Future supplements will contain more CRP rosters and stars. Basically GW doesn't like printing rules if they don't first have the models.
  • The Specialist Brands studio fully expects us grognards to carry on using the Icepelt edition for rosters, and whatever others we fancy. They aren't going to come round your house and take your Norse away.
  • But for newcomers, well, they get to be excited by new rosters like we once were. And that's good because for every one of us reading this there is likely to be 10,000 new players who've never seen the full list of rosters.

Ok, not exactly much to show here except the poster below.
However talking to Andy Hoare, Mark Bedford and Chris Drew I can mention the following:

  • [*=left]The game is set during the Horus Heresy in the spirit of the original Adeptus Titanicus.
[*=left]It will begin with just Titans.
[*=left]The scale will be 8mm – They decided on this scale after 3D printing a Marine, Dread, Leman Russ, Warlord and a Mastodon in three different scales. 8mm was deemed the best as you could see the details to the point of telling different armour marks apart but didn’t make the Titans too big.
[*=left]8mm will make a Warlord around 6″ tall (that’s what it looked like why Andy Hoare put his hands apart, don’t blame me if the final model is smaller or larger…).
[*=left]The models will be produced in resin by Forge World.
[*=left]Typical force may be in the region of two Warlords, two Reavers and two-three Warhounds.
    [*=left]More Titan variants are possible.
[*=left]Down the road infantry and tanks are to be introduced.
[*=left]Other forces are also possible, this includes Xenos which can be introduced in a themed expansion, e.g. Adeptus Titanicus: Armageddon to bring in the Orks.
[*=left]Currently the Titans are being 3D modelled by Chris Drew, the Warlord has been done as the 40k version was originally 3D modelled so it was a case of just scaling things down and getting it to work as a model which can be manufactured.
We may, may, get to see something at the Forge World Open Day…(may, depending on Tony Cottrell)

Mordheim im Gespräch auf Warhammer Fest

Atia & Bob auf War of Sigmar:

-Bloodbowl is planned pretty far, including expansions. They will use plastic for the first six teams. This project is huge. First expension should be 7 more teams.
-Adeptus Titanicus next. 8mm scale. Titans first, than HH. Xenos later.
- Mordheim probably after the initial AT release.
- People had a lot of fun with Warhammer Quest!

Blood Bowl (2016) und Adeptus Titanicus (2017)

Jede Menge neue Infos zu Adeptus Titanicus - Zedmeister im DakkaDakka Forum

Excellent day, though slightly disappointed that Fires of Cyraxus and the Vulterax wasn't available. The Moritat looked stunning and is currently being tooled, so not long hopefully. The Macrocarid too was stunning. Now, onto specialist games. Managed to collar the lads and spent a good amount of time pumping them for information:

First blood bowl, most is probably already known:
- The release box will be plastic and contain the full rules
- The following teams are planned for the initial run of releases: Human, Orc, High Elf, Wood Elf, Dark Elf, Elven Nations, Nurgle, Dwarf and Skaven
- He mentioned a dead zone supplement that will expand on them
- Resin teams and upgrade sets for all teams are planned
- Was mentioned that cheerleaders and apothecaries would make excellent the event pieces, though nothing like the original Orc cheerleader!
- Illegal procedure is now an optional rule!
- They won't be following age of sigmars background or race naming for blood bowl
- Ask Lord Borak 'may' return!
- Dungeon bowl was also mentioned as something they're looking at

And now, Adeptus Titancius. As mentioned above, the original play test box is quite the relic and was worth a look.
- They're digging into all previous Epic games for inspiration, but it will be a new rule set.
- Expect Titans to have a plasma reactor power tracker to keep track of how much power they have.
- They'll be able to overload the reactor to boost power with a risk (Overload voids, increase speed, etc)
- Harpoons will be back but nowhere near as ridiculous as they used to be!
- Expect 2nd edition Epic orders and damage charts
- Expect 1st edition campaign and upgrade rules
- Engine war will be a bit of a slugfest, with Titans slowly blasting each other to Atoms, staggering about, weapons missing, systems burnt out, but still able to fight until you smash the legs, pulverise the MIU's or cause the reactor to go nuclear.
- Manourberability is key - the heavier the Titan, the slower they are. He described a play test where his final warlord was scragged when an enemy warhound got behind it and he didn't have enough power to overload the reactor to take more turns than they can
- Knights are objective grabbers and shield droppers, don't expect them to go toe to toe with Titans and survive
- Campaign games are the default mode of play, similar to Necromunda as he described it. With options for competitive and open play.
- Machine spirit personality will play a role. This sounded really exciting. Titans will pick up a personality the more used they are. So you could end up wth a Titan geared for close combat and have it turn into a bit of berserker which will have an effect of it becoming less controllable in battle. 'Resting' the Titan becomes an important choice to make. Yes, your Titan could end up with PTSD or worse...
- They're starting out with the three classes and Knights, all in resin
- They'll be a game box that'll contain just the rules and terrain, a Horus heresy style black book for the main rules with additional background and colour imagery and the models in resin
- As for future Titans, expect a new class between warlord and reaver as well as a Nemesis class and, he got really excited, PsiTitans (at last)! Imperator would only appear if the game proves popular
- They're now running through play testing the game with a wider player base

That's all I can recall for now.

Xanthos - DakkaDakka

I did mention to Alan that they might be bikes, small walkers or whatever. Got no comment on that. 😛

Re: Titanicus, Darren has test printed the Various Titans, Leman Russes, Rhinos, Knights and various infantry.
It was after seeing all these at several scales that the choice to go with 8mm scale was made.

His emphasis was on 25% of 40k size instead of 20% in old Epic.

I fished for info on Aeronautica or other small scale aircraft. Got an interesting reply to this. He would very much like to do a new fighter game, but focusing on the larger void-fighter craft.
He always felt that the various fightercraft in gothic felt out of place and would have been better served at a scale in between Gothic and Epic.....

Re: Forgeworld Open Day 2016 - News and Rumour
I had a really nice chat with Andy Hoare about blood bowl. This is done and will be out before Christmas, the models and the sprues were all done and they look great.

Humans and orcs are in the box, and then skaven and dwarves will be next. The pitch is reversible and has a human pitch one side and an Orc one the next side. Once they get skaven and dwarves out done they're going to do a similar double sided pitch for them. In terms of other plastic box sets they are going to do an elf team and one other team. Everything else will be resin. Special characters are in the works, but rules for some of them are already done.

Anyway as we were chatting about blood bowl he pulled out a play testing copy of asepticus titanicus from the eighties! It had Polaroid pictures in it and the old printer paper with the holes in the side! Anyway adepticus titanicus is his next project. The old scale was really mixed with troops too big and Titans too small! New scale is going to be 8mm, so should work really well. He was saying with the new models you can see the marks of armour on space marines infantry, so although small should still be really detailed, by the sound of things this makes a warlord the size of a contemptor.

There's going to be some terrain in the box inspired by the old cardboard buildings, but this will be plastic, everything else is going to be resin. The setting is 30k so just going to be HH to start, but the plan is if it does well to introduce other races within the 30k setting.

By the sound of things the focus is going to be getting a decent model range for the HH first. We talked about how hard it is to do all ranges and all unit types in epic, and I think the focus is very much Titans, tanks and flyers! This is due in 2017 and will all be under the forgeworld banner.

I spoke to Alan Bligh about the HH timeline which was quite nice. One of the interesting things that was mentioned was blood angels and dark angels which by the sounds of things are going to be dealt with together, and won't necessarily involve signus prime. Whilst this is an interesting story, it doesn't really make for a good campaign. he mentioned there were quite a lot of events not on the official timeline, and that he has various versions of the timeline which includes other battles that haven't been covered either by black library or FW.

The focus at the moment is on Tempus, which all going well should be this year. The artwork and the first drafts are all done, but whether they can get it done in time is another matter!

Blood Bowl

Lordkane

Hastings in den Kommentaren auf War of Sigmar:
As far as I can remember the Dwarves and Goblins are 100% in plastic, I was originally told the Nurgle team was too, but last reports seem to suggest Nurgle team is resin (I'll try and find where I read it). Also seem to recall GW themselves said somewhere that the Dwarf pitch would be reversible with a Skaven pitch on the other side.

AFAIK the pitches are all card, think there was also talk of a reversible Nurgle/Elf one too wasn't there?
I was told originally that the Nurgle Team was plastic which is what I am hoping for, but seem to recall I was later told/read that it will be resin, or was that the Dark Elf team? IIRC the first of the Elf Teams is also a plastic kit..... and there's a Chaos Team in plastic later in the year (fingers crossed for a plastic clampack Minotaur - and double crossed that it looks more like the original BB minos than the more recent WFB ones!).

Battlefleet Gothic kehrt zurück

Lordkane

Atia auf War of Sigmar:

I would expect Battlefleet Heresy first tbh^^

Chikout - DakkaDakka

Taken from the comments on the war of Sigmar blog. A new battlefleet game is coming from the specialist games studio. I guess it will be the next project after Titanicus. Atia said it was called 'heresy'. Hastings confirmed that the game is coming but didn't know about the title.
