[h=1]>>> WHAT[/h] BATTLETECH is a single-player, turn-based, tactical 'Mech combat game for PC. (And Mac and Linux!) The game may also include PVP multiplayer if enough funding is reached - more on that below.
[h=1]>>> WHERE[/h] The BattleTech Universe is one of near-constant warfare and feudal political intrigue, where great noble houses vie for dominance of a vast region of space known as the Inner Sphere. It's a universe of flawed heroes, fallen empires and grey moral realities. Great families vie for supremacy, with alliances and betrayals constantly shifting the balance of power.
[h=1]>>> WHEN[/h] Our BATTLETECH game is set in the popular 3025 Succession Wars Era of the BattleTech Universe - often referred to as "Classic BattleTech".

[h=1]>>> HOW[/h] With your help! The success of our last few games allows us to fund the Base Skirmish Game - but with your support BATTLETECH can become so much more. Here's how the game will expand as the campaign's funding increases. (For a full summary, see the Game Stages section below).

  • STAGE 1 (Already funded by Harebrained Schemes): A turn-based tactical skirmish game - command a Lance of 4 'Mechs & MechWarriors against AI opponents across a variety of battlefields.
  • STAGE 2 ($1,000,000): We add a full, single-player story campaign to the game.
  • STAGE 3 ($1,850,000): We add side-missions, procedurally-generated missions and the campaign becomes open-ended.
  • STAGE 4 ($2,500,000): Introduces PVP multiplayer combat in the famous arenas of Solaris VII.

3025 is before the Clan invasion. Will there be Clans in the game? There are no Clan ‘Mechs in the game yet but the BattleTech universe spans hundreds of years and in success, we plan to include them in later installments.

Is this going to be a port of the BT tabletop rules?
Our goal is to craft a combat system for BATTLETECH that’s the perfect blend of tactical depth, speed of play, and meaningful unit customization. As we did with our Shadowrun games, we intend to capture the *spirit* of the original tabletop rules, while designing the best PC game we can. That said, Shadowrun and BattleTech are very different games! For one thing, Shadowrunners like to hide behind cover, while ‘Mechs… squash cover. Expect turn-based combat in BattleTech to feel very different than a more cover-based combat system like Shadowrun’s.

Which ’Mechs will be in the game?
BATTLETECH is in pre-production, so many decisions, like the final 'Mech roster, are not yet determined. But here are the 'Mechs we're currently planning to include:
LIGHT: Locust, Commando, Spider, Firestarter, Jenner, Panther, Raven, Urbanmech
MEDIUM: Cicada, Blackjack, Vindicator, Centurion, Enforcer, Hunchback, Trebuchet, Griffin, Kintaro, Shadowhawk, Wolverine
HEAVY: Dragon, Quickdraw, Catapult, JagerMech, Thunderbolt, Cataphract, Grasshopper, Orion
ASSAULT: Awesome, Victor, Zeus, BattleMaster, Stalker, Highlander, Banshee, King Crab, Atlas

Will “The Unseen” ‘Mechs be in your game?
We’re excited by the great redesigns Piranha and Catalyst have done for some those “imperially entangled” ‘Mechs but we’re not committing to them right now. However, it’s a long time until we ship, so cross your fingers!

Will there be melee combat? Death from above?
Oh yeahhhh!!!!

Will there be infantry in the game?
We’d love to have infantry in addition to the vehicular forces that have already been unlocked - but until we've prototyped it and proven it's fun in the game, we don't want to commit to it.
