"Apocalypticum (name is WIP) is a MDRG variant we are developing with Lead
Adventure (
http://www.lead-adventure.com/) a German company producing, IMHO,
some of the best post.apocalypse miniatures ever made.
This will be a stand-alone MDRG variant. The focus here is on a "realistic"
(but please note the inverted commas) adventuring in an European post
apocalyptic setting. Again, this is a campaign-based game (although nothing
stops you from playing pick up games if you wish). The basic rules are the
same, but characters evolve differently, we have general classes of ammo
(instead of lumping everything in "power cell" rules), and
radiation absorption plays an important part in the game. The game uses a
point system (which you can preview on Ray's website (
http://www.wombatzone.com/files/MDRGbuilder.html) and very simple vehicle
rules.
The vehicle rules will be posted here on the group for general playtesting.
Main factions in the game can be seen on the Lead Adventure site --
basically we have mercenary police, primitive "no tech" gangs with high
melee skills, "stalker" type survivors, veterans (old guys from before the
bomb), neo-communists(several warlords each with his own army), zombies (a
variant strain of the virus that struck Europe), mutant rats and scientific
expeditions teams.
It is more of a "shooty" game, there is less emphasis on mutant abilities
and other "weird stuff" and more in the gritty details of survival. Gangs
may hire specialists such as radio operators, assassins, and "wasteland
legends" (high power personalities, see them here
http://www.lead-adventure.com/product_info.php?cPath=1&products_id=85 )
More about this later! Unfortunately I had to write the first draft in
Italian for my local group, but I will look for external playtesters once
the first draft is stable and translated in English
Andrea"
I thought it might be of interest to those of you that are Lead Adventure fans. You may want to sign up for the group
to try to get in on the play testing when the announcement is made. After all, some of you on this forum already have the amazing terrain and beautifully painted
figures to play the game...
