New Civilians Greens

Richard has sent me the following pics of the new civilians (which should be here tomorrow).

First we have the Blacksmith and his assistant, complete with horse. We thought this would be a good crossover model between civilian and military use for the period, as it would be equally at home in a village/town, or an army camp. We haven't bothered with blacksmiths tools, or an anvil, etc, etc, as everybody seems to make them and they are easily enough found in manufacturers catalogues.

Next up we have the agricultural labourers, 2 x sets in fact, so they can be mixed and matched with whatever tools you fancy giving them, although one is pretty specific in that he is made to hold the scythe which Richard made to go with him. We followed the same pattern as the labourers we did before, by giving most of them open hands for the users flexibility in use and for conversion material. In fact, with these and the earlier civilian labourers, you can do lots of head swaps, etc, to make a lot of different figures from them, all different in some way.

And finally, a selection of tools which will come supplied with the figures, although I haven't quite decided which ones will go with which set yet, as I might need to make some different sprues up, once these are cast in metal.

Anyway, I hope you like them and they should be making an appearance before too long, although I will be more specific about availability, once they have gone to Stewart at Griffin Moulds for him to work his magic on them. Thanks for looking and happy gaming.

Prussian Greens

Richard sent me these photos, after much nagging by me. They are the forthcoming new Prussians, consisting of new Grenadiers, Musketeers and Command. He is currently working on the new French as well and when I have them all I will be having them master moulded then released in batches. I hope you like them.

French with Turnbacks

These arrived in the post yesterday from Richard, along with the Prussians and have gone off to Griffin Moulds today for master moulding.

As you can see they are wearing the newer uniform than my original French infantry and have turnbacks on the coats. We have gone for a different drummer pose, a different officer pose and a new mounted Colonel to accompany the original one.

As this was such a regimented period, we haven't been able to deviate with the standard marching pose for the Fusilier, N.C.O. etc, as if they deviated from the norm they would have been flogged half to death.

Some people criticise the posing of my range, but I think they cannot understand that this was the most drilled period in military history and troops did not march with hats cocked to one side, or wave them in the air as they marched. This was the period where soldiers were virtual automatons and every step was choreographed by vicious drill masters.

Anyway, enough of that, I hope you like what we (well Richard) have done with them.

New French Available Now

The new French infantry while labelled by me previously as"With Turnbacks" is only true of the rank and file, but not the officers, as it would appear they wore what they liked to a certain extent.

With that in mind, the new figures show the Fusilier, the Drummer and the N.C.O. with turnbacks, while the Officer, Ensign and new Colonel do not. They are still new figures and different from the existing French in the range, so you now have a choice of using the new Officer, Ensign and Colonel with your existing French, or the new ones. Of course this applies to the original Officer, Ensign and Colonel too. Variety is the spice of life they tell me. 🙂

Anyway, they are here now and I have inked samples straight from the mould, with no cleaning up whatsoever (as I do with all the figures in the range) for you to have a look at. I hope you like them. Click on pics for a larger view. Up next will be the new Prussians, when I have some more money to get them into production moulds.
