In White Dwarf #272 a Scythed Hierodule subspecies is introduced, the Praefactor. When tallied up on the W40K v3.19 Army Builder data files as portrayed in the article, the model comes out at 548 points (38 points more than the article's stated 510). Interstingly, if you remove the Lumbering option, the creature comes out according to the article. This brings us to the question "Why have Lumbering at all?" The creature only has one ranged weapon, so it should be able to fire it no matter what, lumbering or not. What I think this insinuates is that the Spore Launcher should be considered a Heavy Weapon, not an Assault 1 as the data files stipulate.
Points WS BS S T W I A Ld Sv
Praefactor 510 5 2 10 8 5 2 3 10 2+
Mass Points: 2
Weapons: Spore Mine Launcher w/ Bio Acid Spore Mines, 2X Scything
Talons.
Transport Capacity: 10 Hormaguants
Psychic Powers: Horror, Synapse Creature (only 12" radius)
Lumbering
With the reduction of Synapse range to 12" from the 24" and the explicit statement that it carries 10 Hormaguants, the conclusion is drawn that the rules as listed are correct and the difference in points cost are on purpose, and not mistakes.[/b]
