Moin,

World Setting
The gist of what was written said that it's set in a "not too distant" galaxy where humans have colonized several worlds. They've lost contact with the Mother Planet (more than likely Earth) and started to bicker with each other over the limited resources. As they were doing this a strange threat appeared and began to attack all of them. They then loosely banded together to fight this, acquiring technology from the spoils of war and what not, though they also continue to fight with each other.
Basic Gameplay Concepts
The general is meant to be you, the player, representing the commander sitting back in a bunker and directing his troops. From what I gathered from the post, that means that, more than likely, it'll mostly be "troops" who will be fielded, and not so much a "high ranking" commander, but who can truly tell.
Factions
According to the information, there will be four factions, to start. All of them (according to the source) will be human. Apparently each faction will have some specialized combat techniques (the poster made a reference to a vague similarity to Warmachine... considering I haven't played that game, I can't give much more than what he said Smile), though they'll all be basically pulling from a similar "technological tree" (this made me think of games like Civilization Very Happy). There will be room for customization of troop types based upon faction and world of origin (and/or world of occupation, not entirely certain on this part). Each faction will also have a "force composition" (they make a reference to similarities to WH40k) but each faction won't necessarily look like the others in their "force composition" (so they won't each have HQ, Fast Attack, etc., is how I read this).
Figures
They will be plastic, though whether or not they'll all be prepainted is apparently still up in the air. Only the basic troops of the factions were displayed at the open, and the humans have technologies that are similar to our currently world's technology (for the most part).
The sizes are:
Size 0: Basic foot soldiers and some exoskeleton-type armor (reference was made to sizes similar to GW Imperial Guard and slightly more imposing/larger than a Space Marine, respectively).
Size 1: There were none of these present at the Open. The poster made the assumption that based on the info provided, these would be larger and/or more heavily armed exo-skeletons, on par with Tau battlesuits.
Size 2: Walkers. These are, basically, walking tanks (again, with a GW reference, similar to IG Sentinels).
Size 3: Dreadnaughts. These will, apparently, be the really big guys, and odds are they'll be about as common as a Master or Dean is in Confrontation (at least at first Wink)
Other, miscellaneous info
According to the poster, Rackham is still trying to find someone who can create the minis to the standards that they'd like, and as I said earlier, they're still up in the air on whether or not it'll all be prepainted. They've also, for the time being, decided that the rules will be small booklet style, though they haven't ruled out putting out a more comprehensive rulebook at a later date.
It also seemed that they are focusing on the small skirmish level, to start, with possible future plans to grow the game into the larger scale (ala Confrontation vs. Rag'Narok, as near as I can tell).
Keep in mind, everything I put down above is what was related by a poster who talked to someone who appeared to know a bit about the game. He finished his post with saying that all of this could certainly change between now and when they release more info, and that, overall, Rackham was being rather closed-lipped about the game.
Anyway, hope you enjoyed the reading[/b]
