[Kickstarter] Horizon Zero Dawn

Aus der Kommentarsektion von SFG_Sherwin:

There's quite a lot going on behind the scenes right now in terms of updates, which we're hoping to put out to you guys as soon as we can. In the spirit of transparency, I rather suspect that it will be next week in terms of timing, so I might have to ask for a little more patience.

EDIT:

How far into development is this game?

Kickstarter is an incredible platform, as it allows a community to develop in advance of the game’s release, and for us as game developers to interact with that community. Where possible, we use this to identify elements which contribute to the community’s core experience and try to incorporate them into our final product(s).

We’re extremely happy with the core game engine of Horizon Zero Dawn™: The Board Game. Development and playtesting are currently ongoing with creation of additional machines and their behaviour cards, hunter abilities and weapons, and obviously the exciting stretch goal unlocks our awesome backers are reaching!

Neues Update mit Infos:

Hi Seekers!
The campaign continues to roll on, and we’re delighted to see so many Horizon Zero Dawn™ superfans with us! And remember, the more people we have on board, the more stretch goals and bonus content will get added to your pledge for free. Spread the word!
And so far as stretch goals go, we’ve unlocked several of the much beloved characters you all remember from Horizon Zero Dawn™. Today we’re going to discuss how these are integrated into Horizon Zero Dawn™: The Board Game.
When we first began working on the game, we knew we just had to try and include as many of these iconic videogame characters as possible. This presented a slight problem however – with players exploring the wilds as hunters for the Hunters’ Lodge, we knew the narrative and thematic capacity to do so was extremely limited. We’re always very respectful with any intellectual property we work with, and the last thing on our minds was breaking the established canon of the game.
During our first meetings with Guerrilla we brought this up, and working closely with their team we came up with a solution which we felt really added extra depth and gameplay options for our backers – an alternate play mode for Scenario Expansions.
Played using the same rules for encounters and tracking as the standard game, these expansions are based on memorable quests from Horizon Zero Dawn™ and allow players to play as their favourite characters instead of hunters, retelling the story of the game. The best part? You’ve already unlocked one!
The War Chief’s Trail is a series of encounters which emulate Aloy, Sona, and Varl hunting the Eclipse Cultists which have invaded Mother’s Cradle. Along the way, you’ll have to overcome or sneak past enemies, defeating the interlopers and gathering precious supplies.

And, of course there’s something else – you guessed it, corrupted machines! During your final encounter with the Eclipse, you’ll need to face this new type of terrifying enemy, not found in the normal playthrough.

There are already other Scenario Expansions on the way, for those of you excited to try your hand at a more narrative experience. For starters, we’ve already seen Erend; how will he fit in with Dervahl, an inventive villain you’ve already unlocked?

Hi Seekers!

Thanks for your patience – we know this update has been a long time coming. Our team have loved speaking with you in the comments and seeing the excitement you have for Horizon Zero Dawn™. Keep it up, and let’s all work together to keep growing the project – the more people we have on board, the more stretch goals and bonus content you will get added to your pledge for free!
We’ve seen a couple of you guess at the order of the Stretch Goals over the last few days and why they’re set out as they are, so we thought we’d jump in at this stage to elaborate on them for you.
Suffice to say, there is indeed a structure to them – in fact, they’re organised as expansions. Today we’re going to talk about one you’ve unlocked in its entirety, Forge and Hammer. Heavily themed around the Oseram tribe and their rugged culture, this expansion is will really put you in character when playing, and greatly expands your gameplay options. How? Well, read on…
Firstly, the Forge and Hammer expansion includes two new Oseram hunters. These aren’t just alternate sculpts – they’ll both come with their own unique equipment, traits, hunter decks, upgrade trees, and playstyle. Players will be able to replace any of the hunters from the core game with one of these robust folk if they’re looking to mix things up!

Next, let's move onto the machines. This expansion greatly increases the number of enemies the players will encounter. Some, such as the Lancehorn and Charger present more powerful upgrades to the machines in the core game, being a direct step up in difficulty from the Grazer and Strider respectively. The Glinthawk by comparison provides a completely new and unfamiliar challenge to players, requiring them to adopt entirely new tactics to defeat these vicious foes. This expansion includes four of each of these models, as well as the rules you’ll need to play with them, and their profile and behaviour cards.

Of course, as you’ve probably guessed, these new enemy types will all need new tracking cards in order to appear, and that’s exactly what we’re going to talk about next. Included in this expansion are new tracking cards, allowing players to expand their gameplay experience with new quarries – the deadly Ravagers. Armed with the lethal Ravager Cannon, these foes really pack a punch and will have you on your toes trying to prevail!

To represent the unique equipment crafted and maintained by these master artificers, this expansion also adds several new cards to the merchant deck. Using these, your hunters will be able to unleash devastating attacks and significantly improve their odds of survival as they track their fearsome new prey.
Finally, this expansion will include six new tiles, representing different landscape and environments than what can be found on the tiles in the core game. With new patrol routes and terrain placements these don’t just provide different artwork – they’re completely new gameplay content!
Hopefully this has helped clear up some of the questions you had – we’ll be back soon with another update on some of the other expansions which are part of Horizon Zero Dawn™: The Board Game!
