The Vallejo company was registered in New Jersey, U.S.A., in the year 1965. In these early years it specialized in the manufacture of colors for animated films (cartoons).
In 1969 Vallejo moved to Spain since the most important studios for animated films were located in Madrid, London, Paris, Gent, Zagreb , Budapest, Prague and other cities in Eastern Europe.
In 1970 Amadeo Vallejo added two new products to the line - Designers Liquid Color and Acrylic Artist Color, the first acrylic for fine arts manufactured in Spain, and one of the first acrylics to be manufactured in Europe.
Beginning 1980 some of the professors of the University for Fine Arts (Escuela de Bellas Artes San Jordi) in Barcelona asked Vallejo to develop the concept of a fine arts acrylic of superior quality but at a uniform and reduced cost. The outcome of this was the new range of Acrylic Studio, and with this product began a new period of growth for Acrylicos Vallejo.
The most sustained expansion of Vallejo started in the nineties, beginning with the introduction of new products directed at the Modelpainting and Hobby sector. The company became the first specialist in acrylic colors, with a long and varied experience in all aspects of this branch of manufacturing.
From the beginning, Acrylicos Vallejo has exported its products, and today almost half of its output is destined for the export market. During these 35 years, many changes have taken place, but Acrylicos Vallejo is still a family owned and operated company, administered by the Vallejo family, and located in Vilanova i la Geltru, in the province of Barcelona.. Amadeo Vallejo still controls the formulas personally and supervises production, improving the development of the colors and introducing new products with the help of new raw materials and technologies.
