Ich hab keine Lust das selber zusammenzuschreiben, der 40k-Gott himself hat das für uns erledigt:
Al’rahem’s platoon does not have the scouts or infiltrate special rules. Thus they cannot outflank with their transport, as they do not fall under the Outflank definition of units not just allowed, but required to embark upon their transports–namely, only scouts and infiltrators are mentioned and referenced, since they have neither they can do neither.
They fall under the general stipulation that transports taken for units are separate units, and without scouts or infiltrate you cannot deploy them together as a reserve unit. They must be rolled for separately, and in fact, NONE of Al’rahem’s platoon can be mounted as this would explicitly violate two rules: That only scouts and infiltrators can be mounted in reserve upon their dedicated transport, and that Al’rahem’s transports are not part of his platoon.
Now we go to the ‘can an infantry platoon deploy in a dawn of war mission including it’s dedicated transport’.
At first you’d think no, given the above, but on a closer inspection of the IG FAQ, specifically this part: “units in reserve that are embarked upon a non-dedicated transport are instead rolled for separately.” Also this part “If a unit with this ability is deployed inside a transport vehicle, it cannot infiltrate.” And finally, this part has relevance: “as long as at the end of of deployment the player still has a maximum of one HQ and two Troops units on the table.”
Note the following are thus the rules we gain from these statements:
1) If you are embarked on a dedicated transport, you do not roll separately.
Why would this be mentioned? It is clearly mentioned so when you bring an infantry platoon on the board, you don’t get to drag Vendettas on just because you have elements of your platoon within it. Since it’s entirely possible for you to be mounted in a dedicated transport in reserve, this means you can enter from reserves embarked. It gives no special exceptions to units that have outflank but do not have scouts or infiltrators.
2) If you deploy outside of a dedicated transport, you can infiltrate.
This means you could infiltrate a Storm Trooper unit and deploy their dedicated transport on the table–but the Storm Troopers cannot begin the game within it. Of course if they scouted, you could.
So we have a conundrum. If Al’rahem cannot embark upon his transports when outflanking, then you cannot deploy dedicated transports when deploying an infantry platoon on the table in a dawn of war mission unless you stay within the 1+2 limitations imposed by the mission–both platoons have transports but none qualify for the right to be deployed with them.
Remember the rule on page 87 (quoted above).
If Al’rahem CAN embark upon his transports when outflanking, then you CAN deploy a platoons dedicated transports during dawn of war as we are all cheating and dedicated transports are not, in fact, separate units and count as part of the platoon they were purchased with.
This is clearly not the case. Note this is a reversal of my stance from yesterday, mostly because I sat down and analyzed the rules.
So, we are all cheating with Al’rahem, we are all about to cheat with infantry platoon deployment in Dawn of War, or people are going to make up rules to allow themselves to keep using Al’rahem as they see fit despite the rules saying they cannot do so–and not allow infantry platoons the same latitude.
Note that it’s interesting to see how Al’rahems platoon CAN be embarked, by using Creed’s tactical genius rule (gives an entire unit scouts).
