- SCHWARMFLOTTE DAGGOTH-

-NEWS-
Einiges tut sich in den Brutkammern. Neue Käfer - alte Käfer in neuem Gewand etc.

Work in Progress
- 2 x Exocrine Umbau
- 10 Gargoyle
- 2 neue Schwarmwachen
- 2 neue Toxotrophen

-ABOUT-

- THE SECRET OF DAGGOTH VI -

The voice of commander Duke crackled through his transmitter. They were send by the honorable imperial guard to take care of a problem which had emerged on the small Planet Daggoth VI. It was exactly two weeks ago since they heard a sign of life from the outpost station in the badlands. It was a quiet and bleaky area. A little bit scary due to the absence of life and the reclusion but no place where a man must be afraid of his life. But since two full weeks no one had heard anything from the outpost. Maybe they had problems with their transmitters or something else, but Senior Commander Caparro had a sparse trace of discomfiture in his voice and so he decided to send Commander Duke and his team of loyal imperial soldiers to take care of the situation. They were out in the desolate swamps for two hours now since the Arvus-Lighter dropped them and they arrived at Daggoth VI. Duke and his team were a small group of six well trained men, who protected the imperium in many wars. So nobody knew why the sergeant wanted them to check the situation in this apparently innocuous situation. Daggoth VI was a completely inhabitated planet. The imperium used this planet for experimental projects with the local raw materials. They discovered a kind of fossil crystal which was much older then the contemporary history the imperium knew. First they thought it was from the Pliocene, then from the cretaceous period but tests revealed that it had to be much older than that. The first reaction in the whole imperium was elation because it seemed that they discovered a material from a knew era. But this first rush of enthusiasm began to shrivel as the contact to the outpost broke up. After a long walk through endless swamps and strange looking plants, the outpost lay in front of them like a huge grave. No voice, no sound could be heard - not even the voice of one of those curious looking but innocuous swamp creatures. Duke’s voice ended the silence, as he contacted his senior Commander:

DUKE: “We can see the outpost now- we’re heading in from north west so we have the delta complex right in front of us, over.”

It followed a moment of silence, then the voice of Caparro crackled trough the transmitter.

CAPARRO: “Good job till now Commander Duke. What is the situation out there, over?”
DUKE:
“We can’t see anything important. It seems like the generator is down. Everything is dark and quiet. We’ll find a way into the complex and report when we find something, over.”
CAPARRO:
“Ok Commander but watch your backs, I dont know what to think about that situation, over.”

Duke put the transmitter back to its bracket. He wasnt used to the senior commander being concerned about him or his men. The whole situation seemed strange to him. He swallowed his thoughts turning his attention to his fellow squad members.

DUKE: “You heard the SC, let’s go and restart this baby. I don’t know what you guys think but I want some light in this (please do not swear) up building. The generator is in the beta complex, so we go that way.”

The others followed him without a word. Duke realized that they didn’t know what to think about the situation either. If this would be just a repairing mission, Caparro wouldn’t had send his best men in here. So what had happened here? They began their way through the shadows of the buildings. Each step followed by the sound of their feet making their way through the swamp-like ground. Except this, everything was quite. A certain feeling of uneasiness spread to the whole squad like a cold breeze. Duke could almost feel the tention. But he knew his men would be tough if something happens. After all they are the best the Astra Militarum has to offer. They continued their way until they saw a silhouette of someone cowering in a dark corner on the ground covering his face with his hands. It was an old man in a white dress, apparently a scientist and he was whining. Duke was sceptical. As a soldier, he disliked scientists by nature. Things were always the same. The all so intelligent "upper class" sticks there noses way to deep in dangerous business and he and his men need to clean up the mess afterwards. He didnt like the situation unfolding in his thoughts but he got a little bit closer to the covering man and tried to comunicate.

DUKE: “ We are imperial soldiers send by the honorable Astra Militarum, what is your name and what is going on here?

The old man turned away from the soldiers and so Duke took his arm and tried to help him up but as he saw the face of the man he withdraw from him rapidly. The man snapped at his hand but a fast shot from one of Duke’s boys ended the life of this unhappy creature. After the body stopped moving they approached slowly to it and put the light of the torch on the head of the man. It was atrocious! Only a sick mind could see a human being in this horrific antic. The eyes were small and almond-shaped and they were completely black. The soldiers could see their torches reflected in those black eyes and even in death those eyes looked creepy intelligent! The nose of the men was nearly completely degenerated and was replaced with just two holes where the nose once was. The teeth were sharp as blades and a long tongue came out of his mouth. No one talked but suddenly one of Duke’s soldiers broke the silence:

SOLDIER: “ What in the Emperors name is that, Commander?”

Duke looked at the strange sight in front of him. He had seen many strange things that would drive many men crazy in a heartbeat. From towering Orks to lighting quick Eldar soldiers he had faced many channelnges. Not to speak about the horrors a chaos cult can come up with. And this was exactly what shot trough his mind like a pistol: Chaos! He searched for the right words but speaking was never one of his best abilities.
And then one of the soldiers spoke out what Duke was thinking himself.

SOLDIER: “Chaos?”
DUKE: “Possible but not very presumably - this planet is far away from the Eye of Chaos and they have bigger targets to reach for. Why would they target a completely empty piece of rock in the middle of nowhere?”
SOLDIER: “But what is it then?”
DUKE: I already said, I can’t tell you. But what I can tell you is that we wouldn’t be here if there isn’t any trouble. We won’t tell the SC anything until we know more!
We will head into the beta complex as planed, lets go”

Soon they reached the front gate of the complex just to find it wide opened. That was not normal! But after what they had seen a gate couldn’t stop them from fulfilling their duty. They couldn’t see anything inside - it was to dark. Six flashlights flashed suddenly through the darkness as they began to walk into the complex. After a long periode of walking they arrived in a small hall with four corridors leading in different directions. Duke told his men what to do. One soldier and himself would explore the hall while each of the others would take one corridor. They would meet again in ten minutes. After the others left the hall, Duke and the soldier began to explore their environment. Everything looked smashed and busted. Several tables were overthrown and the sensitive scientific tools lain broken all over the floor. Duke found a document about the work of the scientists. It was damaged but still readable. Duke and the soldier just read the last pages of it.

84. Day of Project–H:
- tried to get further informations on the crystal. FAILED
- we found a huge cave inside of the mountains, opened it via melter fire.
- Cave is full of this ancient crystal.

85. Day of Project–H:
- some workers mentioned strange noises comming from inside the cave.
- eight of them have spoken about a ghastly feeling they have if they are
inside and refuse to mine more of the ancient crystal. => Shot them

86. Day of Project–H:
- we send 26 men to the cave for mining, 21 returned.
- noone speaks about what happened.
- 2 of the 21 men were found dead in the night –they hanged themself.
- we HAVE to keep the project gooing.

87. Day of Project–H:
- Some of the scientists are feeling bad. They have nightmares
- I’m feeling queasy to, I heard a noise tonight which came from under the earth, maybe I’m over-worked.

88. Day of Project–H:
I can’t stand it anymore. I beg you holy emperor bring me salvation in
death. What I’ve seen and heard this day is to much for human sanity. It began in the early morning that I heard that noises again. I got up and entered the main hall. I can’t speak about this but I have to write it down to warn mankind of a danger which is older then our race. The main hall was a living hell. 7 Scientists were attached to the walls with a disgusting mucous organic substance. There were fleshy tubes coming out of their mouths. Suddenly I heard that noise again - It came from one of the corridors and I began to run. I saved me by corral myself here in the assistance hall but I dont know how long it will take until this thing finds me here.

89. Day of Project–H:
This will be the last entry I write because I’ll shoot myself after ending this. I saw what happened to the scientists today. I’ll not allow these creatures to do this with me. I was sneaking out of the assistance hall for a few minutes in order to find some food ( up to this point my will to survive was still working). While snatching some food from the supply room I was attacked by a creature which I can barely discribe. It had two long taloned arms coming from his back, a long tail with a kind of spike at the end and several tentacles growing in front of his mouth. It stabed me with this spike of his tail and tried to hold me down but a quick shoot from my lasgun and it released my arm. The next thing I can remind is that I was running. Then I was sitting in the assistance hall writing this. I hope noone will ever come to this planet. We have freed something that was sleeping for ages. The emperor only knows which fate this planet has. I am feeling strange, I think the creature spattered me a kind of neurotoxin. I won’t end like the others, they won’t get me! If you can read this you’re alreday doomed. I will find peace through the sweet arms of Death. Good by!

/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////
/////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////////

After finished reading Duke tightened the hold on his lasgun. He looked in the eyes of the soldier that stayed with him and he saw pure fear. Duke knew that he had to make a decission. He tried to contact his fellow men but nothing but deadly silence could be heard. Several times Duke tried to contact his squad. They needed to withdraw and form a defensive formation to insure the safety of the mission. After several attempts he decided to contact Caparro. As he turned in his transmitter, he only heard strange noises, like bones rubbing on bones and a disgusting sucking noise. Disgustedly, he threw it away and thought about the situation before he began to talk.

DUKE: “We must get out of here. We have to keep a clear head. Here is what we’ll do. We’ll find a way to the satellite station which is on the other site of this complex. So we’ll have to cross the big main hall and you know whats going on there, so keep your gun ready and be beady-eyed!”

The Soldier saluted quickly and they began their way through the complex. It was very quiet and no strange voices could be heard. After a while of walking in silence they reached the main hall. It was very dark and unormal warm in here. As they looked around they saw this organic substance which had been described in the report they just read. But there were no scientists attached to the walls. Only 7 holes in this organic stuff in which they might have hanged. They crossed the main hall without hesitation and made their way through the complex, making shure to keep an eye on everything that could be a thread. After a while they reached a large, round room with strange tools hanging from the ceiling. The room was a mess. Blood was everywhere on the floor and the walls. In the middle of the room stood a table which was used to anatomise organic material. It was a horrible sight. A creature, half human, half something different lied cut open on the table. It’s feets and hands were strapped to the table and his organs were taken out. It was the same kind of anthropoid creature they saw outside of the complex. On another table were some of the crystals under microscopes.

DUKE: “What the hell have they done here! This should be a mining station after all!”

He didn’t watched out for a second and a disgusting noise of blood dripping to the ground told him what he would see when he would turn around. When he did he saw the soldier hanging in the middle of the room. A long tale with a spike at the end had drilled through his back and his belly and had lifted him from the ground. A huge but frightening agile creature was hangig at the ceiling. It had two long taloned arms with witch it began to rip the body of the soldier in half. Several tentacles were growing in front of his mouth which began to penetrate into the eyes and ears of the poor soldier. Duke just needed a second to know that this was the creature described in the report of the scientist they found before. He knew shooting would be senseless. He turned around and run for his life. He couldn’t say how long he run and he couldn’t forget the look in the eyes of this creature. These completely black eyes and the mad intelligence behind them. There was a red glow in all this darkness - this had to be the gate to the outside. As he stopped running and his sences became clear of all the adrenalin he found himself in a titanic cave. He must’ve run deeper into the complex and now he was dozens of meters under the earth. As his eyes accustomed to the darkness he saw that the cave was full of this crystal material which was the reason for the reddish gleam. But there was something else. What he saw was to much for his sanity. He saged to the ground and overlooked the cave. It was humongous. He couldn’t see all but what he saw was enough to drive a man to madness. The cave was full of live. Thousands of alien like creatures were creeping over the ground. The walls were full of organic sacs which pulsed rhytmic like gigantic hearts. Humans were attached to the walls with horrid tubes comming out of their mouths. Several little creatures carrying eggs into huge colonies. Then Duke heard this voice. A dark drone from the bottom of the cave which was so deep he couldn’t see. The noise was so penetrating that all the other creatures responsed to it with creepy noises. Duke took his lasgun and sticked it into his mouth. The pressure was so high he trembled heavily. An enormous body was dragging out of the darkness of the cave. Then Duke saw what was hidden deep under the earth of Daggoth VI, what was sleeping for ages and has finally awakened. Duke tightened the hold of his lasgun and pulled the trigger.

Imperial outposts report movement in the shadows. Officer Caparro, a man known for his Courage and discipline, was found sobbing in the deepest area of his command bunker. His Bodyguards were all killed in the most freighting ways. Caparro, who's mind seemed to be completely shuttered, babbled something of a "snarling shadow". Caparro shot himself a day after he was found…

We have lost all contact with one of our outposts. Last transmission was from Commander Pirka who shot a man because of heavy signs of hysteria. His report was about mental instability among his men. While seemingly uninfluenced at daily duty, men whispered strange stories after dusk in their rooms or at the campfire. Apparently the men feared a so called "snarling thing" which shall lurk in the near jungle at daytime but will sneak into the camp and magically go through thick walls and locked doors at night. No trace of such a thing was ever found nor was any solid evidence to prove its existence. Pirka stated that the local climate and mental stress will most likely be the reason for those assumptions. A vague statement of one of his subordinate Officers was dismissed as phantasm by Pirka. The man told a bizarre story about awaking at night because of a strange and fearful dream. He immediately felt a presence in his room, or so he said. He told Pirka, it was pitch black and there was something unnatural about this darkness. It seemed darker than it should be and although everything in his room seemed normal, his hair stand on end and he felt the abyssal horror only the darkest hours of the night can produce. After a time that seemed to last for ages, he knew the origins of his horror. Something was hiding in the blackness of his room. He heard nothing, but still he knew something was there - waiting, watching.

After laying there for a good hour, incapable of moving, he found the courage to speak and asked, whispering, who was there and what he wants. He should get no answer but something far more discouraging and frightful. From the corner of his eyes he saw a huge shadow peel off from the darkness of his room and vanishing to nothing in a split of a second. Something that huge shouldnt be allowed to move that fast, that agile and without making any noise. The man told Pirka that the thing left no trace of itself but a strange and unfamiliar odor, which had vanished when Pirka interviewed his subordinate. A few hours later Pirka was forced to shoot the man since he attacked fellow guardsmen, accusing them of "letting it in".

We didnt think of it as important information. Stress, phantasms and even hysteria are a common reason for stories like this. But yesterday we lost all contact to the outpost under Commander Pirkas control. Every attempt to contact his vox station failed but one. This one time somebody seemingly activated the speaking mode but nothing was heard but the crackling of the machine. Awaiting further instructions...
