Wings of War WWII + WWI

Balloon Busters
Turn your eyes skyward during World War I, and you’ll discover that planes weren’t alone in the skies. Drachens, the enormous floating leviathans of the air, were used as observation platforms and even for barrages. In response, the Le Prieur rockets introduced in April 1916 were designed to bring them down. The balloons were so difficult to destroy, even using Le Prieur rockets, that it required the pilot to head directly into the target while they fired. The electric switch had to be triggered very close to the Drachen, and if they happened to ignite the gases holding the balloon aloft, the plane could be caught in the blast. These ace pilots came to be known as “Balloon Busters.”

Each Balloon Buster expansion set adds one spectacular Drachen model, and an additional plane model for use with Wings of War. The Balloon Buster expansion sets are not a complete game. A copy of at least Famous Aces, Watch your Back!, Burning Drachens, or WWI Deluxe is required to play.

Wings of War WWI: Balloon Buster (De Guibert) $59.95
Wings of War WWI: Balloon Buster (Johnson/Prince) $59.95

Hit and Run and Crossfire Blister Packs
Both of these Booster Packs have been designed to provide a cost effective way to fly large numbers of planes, engaging in even larger battles with ease. The planes in these latest Booster Pack expansions are brand new to the game, and are an easy solution to bring even more excitement to your Wings of War gaming experience. The Hit and Run booster pack will allow you to pilot two famous fighter planes: the SPAD VII and the Aviatik D.I.

These fast but powerful airplanes were piloted by some of the immortal aces of World War I, such as Francesco Baracca and Georges Guynemer. The Hit and Run Booster Pack is composed of 31 airplane cards and 2 decks of Maneuver cards (B and Q). The Crossfire booster pack brings 4 different airplanes to the fray: the famed two-seater scout Bristol F2B Fighter and the more traditional two-seaters Rumpler C.IV, SAML S.2, and Phönix C.I. These planes fought in the skies all over Europe during World War I, and played a vital role in determining the outcome of the War.

The Crossfire Booster Pack is composed of 18 airplane cards and 3 decks of Maneuver cards (K, R, and R). These Booster Packs are not a complete game. At least one copy of Famous Aces, Watch your Back!, Burning Drachens is required to play.

Wings of War: Hit and Run Blister Pack $12.95
Wings of War: Crossfire Blister Pack $12.95

Last Biplanes and Revolution in the Sky Blister Packs
Get ready to boost your Wings of War battles with the latest expansions set in the period of World War II! Both these Squadron Packs are designed to provide a cost effective way to fly large number of planes and play larger battles with ease. All of the planes in each Squadron Pack are brand new to the game, and are an easy solution to expand your play experience.

The Last Biplanes Squadron Pack allows you to field the Gloster Gladiator and the Fiat CR.42 Falco: the last, agile biplanes that fought from Finland to Africa, from the Battle of Britain to the Eastern Front. Among the included planes are the three famed Gladiators – Faith, Hope, and Charity, that defended Malta in its most dire days. The Last Biplanes Squadron Pack is composed of 27 airplane cards and 2 decks of Maneuver cards (J).

The Revolution in the Sky Squadron Pack provides you with 3 Maneuver Decks for the Polikarpov I-16: a fighter with a revolutionary design that fought not only in Word War II, but also in its rehearsals, the Spanish Civil War, and the Second Sino-Japanese War. The Revolution in the Sky Squadron Pack is composed of 17 airplane cards and 3 decks of Maneuver cards (K).

These Squadron Packs are not a complete game. A copy of at least one World War II Wings of War game set is required to play.

Wings of War, the game series which recreates aerial combat in the XX century, will continue to grow in 2010, with many new releases covering both the first and second World War series, as well as new miniatures. NG International, the game’s publisher, is working on several new products that will be released this year.

For the WWI period, the publishing schedule for the first half of the year includes the boxed set Flight of Giants, introducing early bombers, and two booster packs: Hit and Run will add airplanes like the SPAD VII and the Aviatik D.I, while Crossfire will bring to the game new aircrafts like the Bristol Fighter and the Rumpler C. IV-VII, with their respective maneuver decks.

The WW1 miniatures line starts the year with a new set to be released on February: the Balloon Busters set, featuring one balloon model (Drachen Caquot/AE800) and one airplane (Nieuport 16), in two different painting schemes. This line will also be expanded during the year with a series of Bombers (Caproni CA.3 / Gotha G.V., in two different painting schemes), a revised Deluxe Edition with four exclusive models and everything needed to start to play, and two new airplanes series. The Wings of War WWI Miniatures Series IV will include the models Se5a, Pfalz D.III, Breguet XIV – Rumpler C.IV, in three different painting schemes, arriving in May, and the 5th series will introduce the Fokker E.III, Halberstadt D.III, Morane-Saulnier, Airco D.H.2, each one in three different versions.

The new releases for WW2 include the boxed set Rain of Destruction, which will introduce into the game multi-engine bombers and heavy fighters such as the B-25 Mitchell, He.111 and Me.110, with all related rules. This set is scheduled for the second half of the year. Four expansions are also planned: in the spring, the Squadron Packs The Last Biplanes (Gloster Gladiator, Fiat CR 42 Falco) and Revolution in the Skies (Polikarpov I 16 and others); and at the end of 2010, Winds of Fire (Hurricane, Zero and other fighters of the Pacific front) and Ground Attack (Ilyushhin II-2 Sturmovik and other dive bombers).

The WW2 miniatures line will be expanded by the release of the 2nd and 3rd series of Airplane Packs, as well a series of Bombers. Arriving in the spring, the Wings of War Miniatures WWII Series II will feature the planes Hawker Hurricane, Dewoitine D.520, Junkers Ju.87 “Stuka” and Aichi D3A1 Val, each in three different painting schemes. The 3rd series will include the planes Curtiss P-40E Warhawk, Yakovlev Yak-1, Kawasaki Ki-61 and Reggiane Re.2001 Falco. A first series of Bombers Packs is also coming this year, introducing the models Henkel He.111 and North American B-25 Mitchell, each in two different painting schemes.
