There is something missing in the Tau codex bits we have heard....... Kroot. We very much expected them to be expanded upon, and yet there is nothing really new that we have seen so far. Are Kroot even in the new codex? What is this Allies Supplement we have been hearing about?

The Kroot may very well be in the codex, even if its in the same form they are now currently; one or two entries. However, there are rumors that an allied supplement is approaching, and this is where many allied forces (secondary detachment type) will be dealt with and expanded upon. The Kroot could very well be here in force, as well as the Gretching, Vespid, Genestealer Cults, Eldar Pirates, Renegade Guard, and much more. The rumors certainly point to something like this being worked on.

So I dug in a little bit, and dug up a little bit of information regarding rumors for an allied supplement that should be approaching us very soon.

I am sure there is more good rumor bits on this site somewhere that I have missed. If you run across some please link in the comments.

From what I've heard of the allies codex - don't take this as gospel - but the whole point apparently is to take an element of existing 40k forces, so for example Eldar pirates, renegade guard and possibly Kroot, limit them in some fashion but allow them to keep the same flavour, and in exchange they're battle brothers as you're bartering/trading/enslaving them.

My own theory on this is we won't see this until after codex Eldar, maybe even Orks, and this is why the xenos forces are getting a lot of love recently. So when the allies dex is released, all the special rules and abilities they get will be reflected in the existing codices. Final point, I believe this is where SoB will be going, and suspect Assassins and Legion of the Damned will be in it as well. I guess the grot list might be in there too but I honestly didn't ask as this conversation I had was several weeks ago.

As for an allies supplement, I was told that next year 40K will have a release very similar in format to the Warhammer Fantasy Storm of Magic supplement. In other words a book, cards and kits that could be used in multiple armies, in the same vein as the monsters from WHFB.

I assumed it would be a big supplement for Psykers, but it could just as well be for allies, as that seems to be the best way for GW to produce new kits without having to invest in a full 'Dex for them.

Now I hate to put Summer into any rumours, but I believe Storm of Magic was released about that time, which would put Tau and allies around June or July ish? However rumours strongly point to Eldar being early in the year, so I'm not sure if we would get 2 Xenos Codexes back to back? Unless GW really are going to do a release every month.

Kroot and other existing allies are there, however they are limited. There appears to be an "Allies" supplement which will be out about the same time and include many more options. (aside: Dare I start a Spring of Allies moniker...ah well then it will end up being 2 years from now... )
My sources are telling me kroot are in fact still part of Tau, and have a new unit or two including a beastly transport. They may have more options in a later supplement.
I also checked into the demiurge rumors, and was told "There are no demiurge in the Tau codex."

I suppose I could tell you there are some new units....... but that would be a bit too vague. Hmmm, expect rhino variants, and also a new "suit" smaller than a dread but bigger than a termie. Will that do to start the rumours off?

Two new varients, afaik the current boxes remain unchanged.

Wer weis, jetz wo es wohl einen neue Release-Rhytmus gibt. Vielleicht kriegen wir Müll-Addone + Space Marines. Horus Heresy - Massacre (meine Namesvermutung) kommt ja auch noch von FW.

Meine Meinung ist das im Juli eine Erweiterung für 40k rauskommt. Eine witzige Idee, weil billig für GW, eine 40k Version von Sturm der Magie sowas wie Psisturm oder so!

Ist doch super, innerhalb eines guten Jahres nach erscheinen der 6ten Edition sind die meisten Codizes erschienen. Und CSM und DA auch einigermaßen balanced.

. Regardless, somebody forgot to tell GW as 5/5 6th edition books have been 4th edition ones updated. Compared to the first batch of 5th edition books this is quite refreshing.

I will be more specific. What I have been saying is that GW are not working their way through the books religiously in the same order they were done last time. What they are doing now is returning to armies they think need updating or more importantly to armies they think they have something new and exciting to bring to the table. It makes a lot of sense rather than redoing something for the sake of it but it obviously results in some armies getting left longer than others.

I heard BT were getting folded back into the vanilla SM dex, and that Sisters were getting squatted as a standalone army. My source spends a lot of time in Memphis, I dont know if that makes it credible or not, but still. Didnt you spot SoB WIP sculpts a while back ago Harry? If so, did you see anything else being worked on that looked very "generic imperium", as in doesnt seem like it would fit into any current imperial army?

I have never been in a position to "spot" any sculpts, or 'see anything being worked on'. (Ever)
I heard they had started work on a dex and models for Sisters right after I heard they had started work on Grey Knights ... consequently I assumed we would be seeing the results of this project pretty soon after Grey Knights were released ... It never happened. I guess the WD dex was the result of the work being done on the book ... I have no idea what happened to the minis. There were some rumours at the time that they were not happy with them .... but it was nothing I ever heard anything about one way or the other. As far as I am concerned ... it remains a mystery.

Ich versteh nicht warum GW so lange mit den Sisters wartet. Jetzt mal ehrlich, wenn die Armee rauskommt und der Dex sich einigermaßen in die aktuellen einreiht, dann wird das doch nen Verkaufshit. Einzige mögliche Erklärung ist, dass GW genau das weiss und nicht Verkaufsschlager nach Verkaufsschlager rausbringen will.
Es ist ja nun das neue RELIC game rausgekommen, dort is ne Sisterskulp zu sehen. Wenn die neuen Designs dahin gehen, dann aber prost Mahlzeit.

GW "wartet" nicht mit den Sisters. Ich weiß, es ist schwer das zu glauben, aber ich prophezeihe schon lange, dass die Schwestern als Armee eingestampft werden, so wie es auch oben steht. Aus der Sicht von GW macht es ja auch Sinn- Geld werfen die derzeit ja nicht ab, weil keiner sie kauft(weil sie unspielbar und fast unbezahlbar sind), und letztlich kann man denen auch nichts "cooles Großes" andrehen, das sich in die Reihe von Riptide, Analdrache oder Stampfasaurus einreiht...

Seht's ein, Leute: Die Sisters sind, ähnlich wie Freihändler, Adeptus Arbites oder die Navis Nobilite zwar fester Teil des Hintergrundes und werden deswegen auch weiterhin in RPGs oder anderen Hintergrundlastigen Veröffentlichungen(wie Relic) erscheinen, aber als Armee werden sie ihren Platz einfach verlieren, weil sich da aus der Sicht von GW nichts herausholen lässt. Zumal eine ältere Zielgruppe zwar durchaus den Reiz einer Armee fanatischer Nonnen erkennt, aber die derzeitige Zielgruppe von GW lieber zu Dark Eldar greift, wenn sie ansprechende Frauen auf dem Feld sehen will.

Und all das sage ich leider als jemand, der die Sororitas liebt. Sie waren und sind meine erste Armee, aber inzwischen halt nur noch eine Vitrinenarmee- im Moment lese ich gerade "Faith & Fire" und baue richtigen Frust auf, dass ich mit meinen Mädels nicht mehr wirklich spielen kann...
Wahrscheinlich war der WD-Codex auch eher dafür, die letzten Spieler auf andere Armeen umzusiedeln, damit man nicht wie bei den Squats eine beliebte Armee sterben lassen muss, sondern eher eine, die sowieso keiner mehr haben will...

...und dann 3 Jahre nichts mehr? Oder 7. Edition Ende 2014? Vor allem was soll aus Necrons und GK werden. Gerade diese Dexe hätten eine Anpassung nötig...

Seltsam das im selben Beitrag in dem Sororitas als abzuschreiben gennant werden, da sie sich nicht verkaufe, ausgerechnet Dark Eldar als Alternative genannt werden. Bekanntermassemn waren Dark Eldar ja auch der Kassenschlager schlechthin und die Neuauflage des Codex + schöne, bezahlbare Figuren hat ihre Popularität auch nicht um etwa ne Milliarde Prozent erhöht.

Und warum sollte man nem Kult fanatischer Kampfnonnen, welche von der imperialen Ekklesiarchi unterstützt werde, nichts "cooles Großes" anderehen können? Riesiger Läuterer, laufender Reliquienschrein etc. Lächerlicher als der Termi im Babysitz wird es auch nicht.
