-The Carnifex cannot get 12 or 13 attacks. The maximum you can get on a charge will be something like 8 or 9 depending on whether or not you can combine scything talons with crushing claws. The tail attachment can only be used if you are swamped with enemies, such as if you have 5 or more enemy models in base contact.
-The carnifex can buy an extra wound in addition to buying an extra point of toughness. A T7 W5 carnifex with regeneration is possible.
-Genestealers can buy an upgrade that allows them to re-roll failed wounding rolls, but I believe he said that was only on the charge.
-It IS all nids in synapse range that get immunity to insta-kill, not just synapse creatures. He didn't specifically mention ripper swarms, but raveners and lictors and the like will benefit.
-Those spines on the back of the zoanthrope emit toxic gas for added protection from close combat.
-The zoanthrope can buy more than one psychic power now, though he said they can buy two one time and then three the next... Possibly he was including warp field into the count of 3 powers, I asked him so many things that I didn't want to press the subject too much further.
-Spore mines operate differently. Biovores will be in a unit together and fire clusters of spore mines at enemies. If they hit, all the mines go off on that target. If they miss, the spore mines form a unit together. He also gave me the impression that their movement isn't random anymore (he said he didn't like how spore mines basically had their own movement phase apart from the rest of the tyranids and the random movement slowed the game down). He also made it seem like a Carnifex with the spore cysts can produce more than one at a time, which actually makes it useful since you don't have to hope that someone walks into the single spore mine that you just pooped out or pray that it'll randomly drift into them. If someone who has direct access to the codex could check on it, that would help out. Again, he was getting worried about saying too much so I didn't press him on it.
-Seeding Swarms will still be around, but once again only as a Chapter Approved list and not as part of the main codex.
-I asked about Shoot The Big Ones... he said it was pretty much redundant but wouldn't openly say that there isn't any sort of similar rule in the new book. The impression I got was that you will have to roll target priority for the smaller nids now, but that's not 100% confirmed or anything.
I'll write more later. He walked me through about half of the changes to the codex before it occured to him that perhaps he shouldn't give absolutely everything away. Really nice guy, it was a pleasure talking with him. And afterwards he gave a pretty kick-ass seminar.
