Hints, rumours and leaks of new models for the different armies on Age of Sigmar
This post is an evolving summary of models which have been either rumoured, hinted at or leaked as coming for the different armies in Age of Sigmar. I intend to keep it updated. The idea is pretty simple: gather information regarding possible future releases that come from leaks, rumours or even hints. Wish listing does not count! If I don't update something, feel free to PM me.
1) Stormcast Eternals
Leaked: This week pre-release of Liberators (bows and crossbows)
Next week will see pre-release of Paladins (Retributors: hammers; and two other variantes with swords and axes).
Either next week or the week after pre-release of Prosecutors, including variant with spears and shields.
After that there are no hints in none of the books as to how future models could look. Knight-Azyros (the messengers of Sigmar) is the only used concept I can think of that has not been released or leaked.
2) Chaos
a) Khorne
Rumours have it that after Sigmarines at least two weeks of Khorne releases are coming. They should include Bloodwarriors (new Khorne WoC from the starter set) with different weapons, a new hero called Slaughterpriest and another called the Skullgrinder (source: Atia). A Deathbringer is also mentioned on the book. Bloodreavers could or not be released apart from the starter set. After that, no more hints.
b) Nurgle and Tzeentch
Greater daemons have been rumoured for a while to be already designed and ready for release. Rumour has it that Tzeentch should have the next released, including the LoC.
Nurgle had a major release with ET and there are no hints about new models apart from GUO. The only concept I can think of that has not been covered are Plague- or Blightwyrms, described several times regarding the War of Life.
c) Skaven
Harry has suggested that Skaven are coming after Khorne. They had a major release with ET, including two centrepiece models (Verminlords and Thanquol) and new monstrous infantry. Apart from those, AoS book focuses surprinsingly on Eshin and Pestilens stuff, without mentioning anything really new. Hint at new Plaguemonks, Gutterruners, assassins? Don't expect anything too massively new for Skaven, as they are heavily used in showcase battles in the different books.
3) Undead
Undead had a massive release during ET, including several centrepiece models (Nagash and Mortarchs), massive infantry (Morghasts) and even smaller stuff (spirit hosts), all with a very similar aesthetic which features heavily both on artwork and showcases in the new books. Only hint at a new aesthetic is a picture of skeleton on much more arcane armour as current kits have them. Don't expect therefore major **** here in the near time.
4) Destruction
Both O&G and Ogres are perhaps the armies who have had no updated for the longest time. Still, both are featured quite heavily on both artwork and showcases, which does not suggest major shifts here. Only hints I could find of new models are Gargantuans. Look at the artwork on the AoS book featuring Savage Orcs fighting Sigmarines a couple of pages before the Lost Ages section. At the back, you can see a couple of massive earth creatures accompanying the army. The earth theme is also featured heavy in many passages, so there we could have a new centrepiece model.
5) Order (apart from Sigmarines)
Unlike all other factions, all order armies except Seraphon are pretty much absent from showcase pictures (except a couple of warrior priests, flagellants and Altar of Sigmar) and artwork (except for the new Fyreslayers). Expect a massive shift here. This is what we know so far.
a) Dwarfs
Two factions: Grugni/normal/metal/Chamon dwarves and Grimnir/mercenary/fire/Aqsy dwarves are distinguished. Of the former we know next to nothing. The only descriptions talk about "cloud armies" or something like that. Not much and no hint of new models. Fyreslayers, on the other hand, have been heavily hinted at: look for future release of slayer dwarves but meaner and with fire effects; including fyreslayers riding lava beasts (likely salamanders after the design of Vulcatrix). Rumour has it that a Golem has also been produced, although that is an old rumour. Fyreslayers, as the only really specifically hinted at order army, could be a near release.
b) Humans
Almost no hints here. Some (perhaps unreliable) rumours suggest that we should look for a shift from a "german" aesthetic to a "germanic" one, meaning more low medieval (carolingian) or maybe even barbarian aesthetic. No humans are featured on the artwork and showcases, except for Warrior Priests, Flagellants and the War Altar of Sigmar. Look for a massive discontinuation of Empire and Bretonnian kits. Some could be salvaged (i.e. Demygryphs)
c) Elves
The most mysterious of all order and maybe overall armies. They are definitely in there, but it is the only army which has neither artwork (with the exception of Malerion) nor showcases at all featured. Look for a massive shift here. Still, we do have a couple of hints:
-Three major orientations: Life (although could do without elves, still unknown); shadow (Malerion); and light (Tyrion/Teclis).
-Life orientation heavily features forest spirits (Sylvaneths). Lifewyrm described here on the maps of Ghyrian as a concept. Also Alarielle's soul pods are said to have many aelfspirits. Unknown if this refers to actual elves or just dryads.
-Shadow orientation is the only one with both conceptual and artwork hints. Conceptual: shadow kin and shadowdaemons are said to be there with Malerion (Malekith). Malerion himself, or maybe a major shadow daemon, also has an Illidan-like artwork picture.
-Light orientation has no hints at all. Overall aesthetic of elves remains the greatest secret of AoS.
d) Seraphon
Only old Order army heavily featured in all levels: artwork, showcase armies and conceptual, including a novel. This could be, however, bad news, in the sense that lizzies are simply frozen in their current aesthetic with no new releases. This is what Harry has hinted at. BUT, on the other hand, Harry has also hinted that we may see something new regarding Seraphon answering a comment about turning to Dragonkin.
