This is based off of a friend of a friend who attended Games Day Memphis as an invitee, so deploy salt, but it was suggested 9th might appear in 2014 because 8th has not been as successful as hoped.
1. WH Fantasy sales in the US are down 40% since the release of 8th edition. (Which is sad IMO, because I think that 8th edition is the best edition GW has ever had.)
2. GW is releasing the 9th edition of WH Fantasy early next Summer.
3. It is a 2 year time-span from the beginning to release to update an army/codex book. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anyone has begun working on either the Wood Elves or Bretonnians which would not give them a release in this edition.
4. If you count out the months until 9th edition drops next summer and consider that the Space Marine codex will come out next month, that basically leaves us with 9 months worth of releases... Assuming that one month will be dedicated to The Hobbit, and half of the months will be dedicated to 40k releases, that really only leaves time to release 4 more WH Fantasy books... My guess is that those will be Dark Elves, Dwarves, Skaven, and Beastmen. (And I assume that to be the order of the releases.)
Von Warseer:
Any rumors of Wood Elves and Brettonians in the next year are bunk. A local who made it out to Games Day North America was able to talk with upper management on some issues. Was told the studio still works on a "update what interests them" and Brettonians and Wood Elves don't. The manager added the note that it had been three months since he was in the England and visited the design studio, so that might have changed. However, there is a minimum 2 year cycle for start to release of a book. So if they are working on either, it won't be well till after 9th is launched that we see them.

The characte has an access to lore of metal (this might be the new concept of runesmiths and runelords, couldnt clarify this because of language barriers)
-anvil striking bound spells
-Throne of power as a lord upgrade, giving unbreakable.
-Army-wide rule making all dwarf units steadfast as long as they have any rank bonus.
-Lord makes unit he accompanies stubborn.
-Warmachines nerfed, engineers more important. WM upgrading mechanic availlable for engineers, with some kind of chart to roll for.
regarding new units:
Several concept had been playtested, for example:
Mechanical upgrades for miners and ironbreakers (monstrous infantry in combined units?)
Mount option for rangers. (??? i might understood it wrong)
Large machine with 2 different purposes.
No idea what has been finally accepted.
...
Anyway, I was told about lore of metal caster lv1, and english translation of this character is "blacksmith" but maybe it is just runesmith/runelord.
One more thing: Dwarfs will have default MR.
He's still tipping 2013 for release (want) but I can accept Q1 2014 as previously suggested.
Bisher haben sie jede Armee mit der Brechstange auf die konventionelle Magie zurechtgebogen (Khemri, Oger). Den Zwergen jetzt wieder eine Ausnahme gestatten wäre sinnfrei.- Dwarfs concept is going to change significantly, mainly because they will now be existent in the magic phase, but not the same way as other armies (???)

what armies will be softbacks? WE, Brets
Die Blutinselstartbox war eigentlich keine, da unspielbar ohne Armeebücher. Allerdings erhoffe ich mir auch einige Austarierungen
