Thousand Sons / Warzone Fenris II - Wrath of Magnus (Preorder 26.11.)

http://www.warhammer-community.com/2016/11/18/war-zone-fenris-part-ii/

Aus dem mittlerweile abgeschalteten Video

HBMC - DakkaDakka

Holy gak that was awesome.

If we're getting models for those... then wow!

[EDIT]: And... removed. "This video has been removed by the user.".

For those interested in the content:

Starts with Ahriman giving a speech about how it is time to take the fight to the Wolves. Another 1KSons sorcerer calls him a traitor, and that they don't forget what he did to their legion (I love the fact that they're playing this aspect of the fluff up, that the 1KSons are divided). Magnus stops the argument, stating that they are all his sons, and that the Wolves will fall.

He talks about loyal forces, and those that were with Ahriman (basically), showing flashes of Power Armour and Terminator Armour 1KSons. He talks about how they will go to Fenris, with shots of a 1KSons with a cool assault cannon thing. 1KSons Sorcerers riding discs. There's a Tzaangore with an Auto-Pistol. Lots of shots of Magnus.

It's all black and white pictures with subtle movements and lighting effects.

Very cool.

Slayer Le Boucher

Darn it, should've made screenshots...
But HBMC got it down to the essentials.

By the way the Book is called Wrath of Magnus.

Also when you look closely at the depiction of the Termie armors, you can clealry see that they are Tartaros pattern armors, they had the distinctive rounded shoulders.

"IMPERIAL AGENTS
Loyal sons and daughters of the Imperium take heart, as whilst the Ruinous Powers may seek to be in ascendance as the year wanes, the God-Emperor's most righteous agents stalk the stars ready to enact his will.
Codex: Imperial Agents contains nine subfactions of the Imperial war-machine, from agents of the Inquisition to Wyrdvane Psykers of the Adeptus Astra Telepathica to reinforce your armies of the Imperium. After all, Deathwatch Kill Teams and Imperial Assassins are just as likely to be found working alongside regiments of the Astra MIlitarum or Space Marine strike forces as they are working by themselves, giving the Armies of the Imperium increased tactical choice and scope to conquer any foe.
Within this volume you'll find background and rules for using nine smaller factions alongside your existing armies of the Imperium, from the Grey Knight Terminator squads to the BATTLE SISTERS OF THE ADEPTA SORORITAS."

Sein Review des Wrath of Magnus-Buchs

OK...first part, fluff coming in a bit. I need to eat still. But here ya go for rules! ...spoiler: the fluff is cool, imo smile.png

Combat Phase podcast will be happy to cover the new Thousand Sons soon. But in the meantime this is the initial text review of Warzone Fenris 2: Wrath of Magnus. The hardcover case comes with a fluff book and a rule book so you can build your own themed Thousand Sons army or Tzeentch demons army. It’s worth the $75 USD every bit. Amazing art, a stunning new line of models which I honestly did not expect. Sadly the website is old so episodes are on iTunes or @kennylull on twitter or www.facebook.com/combatphase and episodes go up every week. Check out over 50 episodes with Black Library and the most recent ep. 172 an interview with the man himself, Aaron Dembski-Bowden on Master of Mankind, the Black Legion series, his books, writing styles, and what’s to come. Direct link:

Check out models on GW's website, of course.

Rules:

For someone loving the fluff of the Thousand Sons (TS) and now becoming a first-time CSM player this book is amazing. I can’t say with any certainty on this, the day of pre-release in Nov., how the Traitor’s Legion book (resale Dec 3) will address TS but I have faith in Tzeentch that it will at the worst mirror this and at the best, grant options for TS fans/players of 30K & 40K—but that’s just my educated guess. msn-wink.gif

OK, so how does this work? Kickass models—stunning and a wider selection than I could have imagined—accompany new paints to build your TS collection. Demons do NOT have any new model kit releases at this time. However, blue horrors and brimstone horrors (they’re so darn cute!) are available in Warhammer Quest: Silver Tower (WHQ) where you may want to look at your local GW or FLGS or online to buy, trade, or make dark pacts to acquire some. Though not confirmed, I am under the impression early in 2017 we’ll see these models boxed to be used in 40K & AoS. The Tzaangor kit has a nice selection of bits; don’t bother trying to mix WHQ Tzaangors into your 40K army, imo, just get the 40K kit and you can use those for AoS. Rubric marines make a gorgeous kit. Datasheets have units of 5 (4 + 1 aspiring sorcerer as infantry character) so the box can make the asp sorcerer + 9 marines, equipped with inferno boltguns or warp flamers. Soulreaper cannon and icon of flame…pretty. Oh, and a diverse CSM transfer sheet for other legions. Nice kit.

That’s all I have for models. Have a look on GW’s pre-order section for kit details and 360 view.

Making an army

These books are incredibly clear and perhaps that’s future-proofing in addition to an evolution of the design studio. You need CSM codex for TS and Demon codex for the Tzeentch demon army here. The TS are vicious psykers and that comes through quite clear in this WoMagnus supplement!

TS: This book contains new data sheets for Ahriman and Rubric Marines which replace their listings in the current CSM codex. The TS theme army is a Grand Coven (GC) which is made up of formations. Psykers get new and better powers and the CSM sorcerers can draw from 4 new disciplines: Sinistrum, Heretech, Ectomancy, Geomortis. We get 6 new objectives for TS focusing on psyker objectives mostly, or number 9. Also 3 cool fluffy altars of war. TS get 6 new relics, 6 new warlord traits (One gives eternal warrior!). CSM models can become TS with certain Tzeentchy condition to basically, ya know, make it work.

Special rules: detachment from CSM can become TS meeting rules (this book), then all units in a TS detachment or formation get 3 special rules (hells yeah, imo!)

Codex: Imperial Agents

VeteranNoob's Review des Codex: Imperial Agents - B&C Forum

Agents
Hardback, $40 US; Pre-order Dec. 10th, 2016; 136 color pages

This is the initial text review for Combat Phase weekly wargaming podcast. Ep 175 next week will have more discussion. Also, fans of the Horus Heresy, tune in to our show right before Christmas to join an all-star cast of BL authors, artists, podcasters, painters, and fans from around the world as they reflect on A Decade of Horus Heresy. Wow! www.combatphase.com or on iTunes or however you like to get your podcasts.

First off, this is another beautiful book. While I admit I don’t know if all of the internal artwork is reused or newly commissioned, the initial piece is quite breathtaking. The intro section walks through each of the nine factions included with one-two pages of fluff accompanying art (many reused but gorgeous pieces). Next the book includes the standard gallery of models in action sequences (not solo models) in the Warriors of the Imperium section. It was wonderful to see some oldies but goodies pictured, which at the time of initial review I looked up and noticed were no longer for sale or needed to be found on the web store under the search function. Since then, GW has not only announced a new Blanche-inspired Sisters of Battle Canoness, but also brought back the remaining models here for order on demand. This is good because at this point—as we said weeks ago, Warhammer Community has confirmed, and many guessed—there are no new models accompanying this release, though 2017 is only a few weeks away…so, who knows…

So yes, the Sisters of Battle (SoB) army features all existing models. That doesn’t mean the promised plastic SoB models mentioned from inside a trash bin on Warhammer TV a few months back aren’t coming soon, but unlike a supplement, this is (at the very least) a placeholder for these nine factions, introducing new detachments which have their own force organization charts (FoC) and command abilities so the odd existing model can legally fit into an army as standard, ally, or whatever you prefer. Finally we have two pages of weapons, vehicle equipment and special issue warmer before the factions begin. It’s not a lot: 2 ranged, 1 melee, 2 vehicle and 5 special issue including psyk-out grenades and a teleport homer.

Now, onto the 9 factions: each faction has its own name as its faction unless otherwise noted

1. Cult Mechanicus
We have the FoC Engineer Congregation to accompany the Tech-Priest Enginseer model that came out a while back (that cool-looking tech-priest with the axe but kinda on his own). This one is simple: Pair him with the Servitors on the next page and both units must have the Cult Mech faction. But units from this detachment gain the Canticles of the Omnissiah rule like Cult Mech usually have and the table is included. So this is good for folks like me with a cult mech or admech army or who want to incorporate these few models in. Not sure why the book started here, as it’s the slimmest of entries and they’re not alphabetical. But this certainly doesn't replace either of the admech codexes.

2. Aeronautica Imperialis
This is the one no one could guess would be in the book weeks back when the list of 9 was being theorized from the initial teaser giving 6/9 factions. Hey, I wouldn’t have guessed it either. These boys are part of Armies of the Imperium and ally as such. An Imperial Navy Section FoC has at least one Valkyrie and 1 optional Officer of the Fleet. They gain air superiority allowing them to re-roll failed reserve rolls for this detachment. Another slim one, but it gets better. The officer is a cool model I don’t recognize. He allows you to allow a navy order (these are cumulative for each officer). So you can get either a bonus to reserves or penalize your opponents rolls on reserve rolls though a 6 will always bring in enemy reserves. It’s fluffy for units of 1-4 Valkyries (125 base each) and the designer’s note tells us the combat role and pursuit and agility values of the Valkyrie have been included for players using Death from the Skies.

3. Adeptus Astra Telepathica
I swear, they’re not all this short. Here’s a unique detachment for the psykers: Psykana Division w/1 compulsory HQ (either Primaris Psyker or Astropath) …[God, I miss playing Rogue Trader] and an optional units of elites Wyrdvane Psykers . The bonus here allows for your HQ psykers near 5 or more Wyrdvane Psykers from this detachment a better chance to harness. The Primaris ne upgraded and take from the 4 usual expected lores. Astropaths give your army the ability to re-roll reserves in your next turn if he/she successfully manifests a psychic power this turn! Wyrdvanes come in units of 5 with brotherhood of psykers level 1 from the same 4 lores as the primaris. Wyrdvanes are already on sale for $15 for 3 so way cheaper than expected, If you have or like these models you can put them to good use but especially synergies with psykers or reserves. You can see how these are starting to stack...so maybe the order of publication does make sense after all…

4. Adepta Sororitas (SoB)
The best way I decided to do this is just list the entries for you to do your own comparison for whatever you may be wondering. We get two new detachments depending on if you want small bodyguard or an entire force. Ministorum Delegation lets you pair a leader with a bodyguard. FLUFFY! As expected, they must be from the Adepta Sororitas faction. This grants Shield of Faith to the detachment making them tougher mentally and physically. The larger army detachment can buff your Army of Faith to prayer for dodging bad save rolls. The army still has the Act of Faith rule, Martyrdom, and 6 unique warlord traits. No new models today (beyond Canoness) but….I wanna see some Sisters on the battlefield! Includes also 7 relics and 6 tactical objectives. My fav is the Mantle of Ophelia granting Eternal Warrior. If you go to the webstore you’ll see these models.
Canoness
Ministorum Priest - cool older models looking like zealots, each fight sub phase can get a war hymn
Uriah Jacobus
Battle Sister Squad
Repentia Squad
Sororitas Command Squad
Arco-flagellents
Crusaders - power swords & storm shields can take rhino or immolator as dedicated transport
Death Cult Assassins
Celestian Squad
Dominion Squad
Seraphim Squad
Sororitas Rhino
Immolator
Retributor Squad
Exorcist
Penitent Engines
Ecclesiarchy Battle Conclave formation - gains shield of faith

5. The Deathwatch
A Deathwatch Kill Team allows you better shots at wounding or armor penetration. There’s a big list of wargear and your troops of Veterans can take a Corvus Blackstar flyer. Deathwatch (I don’t have their new codex) have special rules and Mission tactics. So as before you can get a bit of variety in the unit with lots of re-rolls. Nice! I played vs. an entire DW army and they can be nuts so it’s nice that someone with only a small force can use them. All their wargear and rules are included so you can run this detachment from this book.

6. Grey Knights
We get full background and rules for demon-hunting Grey Knights (GK) to form a Daemonhunter Strike Force. Much like GK in the codex, you can come in from the beginning and wreck face fast. This is not the full GK codex, of course.

7. Legion of the Damned
This book gives the new Spectral Host detachment. We see Damned Legionanaires but this detachment starts in reserves and you can choose to come in when you feel is best. Again, a nice way to allow someone to ally or use a single LotD unit to get some variety to the army.

8. Officio Assassinorum
This is fleshed out with the 4 assassins from the board game or also available individually where you can bring 1 or a formation, though each assassin is its own Assassinorum Operative detachment allowing a single elite assassin from Vindicare, Callidus, Eversor or Culexus temples. It gains bonuses for doing what Assassins do best. But this is just more about using your assassins with all the info, data sheets, special rules and wargear from each Temple together in one spot. Worth a look even if you’re only kinda thinking about assassins. They also have a formation Execution Force where 1 from each of the 4 temples come with better shots at smoking their targets. Each assassin has a full datasheet with special rules.

9. (No one suspects…) The Inquisition
Our final entry includes the full background and rules for agents of the Inquisition including data sheets, war gear, and a unique detachment. Again, if you don’t have the Inquisition codex, here ya go. Detachment gains authority of the inquisition. Once again, everything rules and wargear is in here for what’s in this book. We have the usual line-up from the The Inquisitor and a cool formation at the end to bring most of these previous factions togethers.

So, that’s it. Overall, if you have these models or want to collect a select few, or have been playing the RPGs or video games and are jonesing for some Imperial Agents this lets you do that. There’s the odd formation, plus every faction gets a new detachment to make it work. I can see this being a book for players with these models or collectors but it does not replace those codexes that are in use. I liked it but was surprised they started with the super slim factions first. But I guess keep it a mix.

That’s it! Let us know your thoughts and questions. The audio podcast for Combat Phase covering this book will have more discussion on using the book. But for now, see above for the contents.

Codex: Imperial Agents - Regeln

Codex in hand, ask away. Things I can quickly confirm:

Canonness Veridyan has a dataslate with rules. She gives out a Precision Shot/Precision Strike bubble to Adepta Sororitas units within 12". Otherwise same as a regular Canoness, but comes with a Power Sword, and she costs 85pts. My first thought - sit her near a unit of Retributors for pseudo-Snipers (ie Rending Heavy Bolters with Precision Shots). Incidentally, the cast on my model looks good - only a very minor bubble on the back of the cloak where you'll never see it. It's also got a 2016 copyright for those interested.

All the armies in the book are their own Factions, with all the implications that carries. The Valkyrie in particular is listed as-is from the Astra Militarum codex (with Faction: Aeronautica Imperialis instead). BUT, Acolytes *can* take a Valkyrie as a Dedicated Transport (as well as Battle Sister Rhinos and Grey Knight Land Raiders). Games Workshop just borked their own FAQ as far as I can tell :s

The Canoness still has the Eviscerator and Inferno Pistols as a wargear option on her dataslate for those who were worried.

The Exorcist Missile Launcher is specifically ruled as a Turret Mounted weapon with 360-degree arc of sight.

Condemnor Boltguns and Immolators have the modified FAQ rulings (ie Condemnor Boltguns only need to hit a unit with a Psyker in it to cause Perils, and Immolators have a Fire Point).

Warlord Traits/Relics are unchanged for both Sororitas and Inquisition

Grey Knights Formation (Demonhunter Strike Force) is 1 Troop, 1 Fast Attack, 1 optional Heavy Support and all units can start making Deep Strike reserve rolls from turn 1 as well as Running and Shooting the turn they Deep Strike. Basically its a slightly different Nemesis Strike Force

Acolytes are 3-9 Acolytes with same statline and upgrade options as before (though Carapace and Power Armour got cut in cost by half). Additionally, any Acolyte can be upgraded to a Mystic with the same No Deep Strike Scatter rule as before. The unit can take Chimeras, Soroitas Rhinos, Land Raiders of all 3 types and Valkyries as Dedicated Transports.

Demonhosts are a unit of 1 - and now have the actual Demon rule too! - but are otherwise unchanged.

Jokearo are a unit of 1, and are unchanged.

Psychotroke and Rad Grenades are unchanged.

Interesting points in the story:

- The Phalanx is present to counter the Planet Killer.
- Trazyn says he knows the purpose of the pylons.
- Trazyn will open its vaults to set free some Imperial prisoners that were part of his collection.

>Of all the protagonists who are fighting on Cadia, Trazyn the Infinite is without a doubt the strangest. It is curiosity that drives him to Cadia, but he plays an important role in the first volume of the saga, Gathering Storm. Of course, some people are none too happy to see him, such as Belisarius Cawl. In spite of this, the Archmagos understands that the arrival of Trazyn in these dark hours is no mere coincidence. The Necron knows (or claims to know) the secrets of the pylons of Cadia. He also has another role to play, especially when he opens his tesseract crypts and releases his Imperial prisoners to fight the armies of Abaddon. But in this case, how will he make up for his rare collection?
Battybattybats, on 30 Dec 2016 - 01:42 AM, said: [B&C Forum]

The white dwarf also contains a scenario where the phalanx is being overrun by Daemons and Iron Warriors and a stand by imperial fists and legion of the damned is made in the chamber of storms.

Battybattybats, on 30 Dec 2016 - 01:51 AM, said:

Creed is mentioned, he's in the battle report and there is mention of Creed not trusting Celestine's 'dark visions' without much soul-searching. Inquisitor Greyfax in particular is very distrusting of Celestine. The Inquisitor is a psyker and apparently Celestine is wearing St Katherine's winged armour

Servant of Dante

Battybattybats, on 30 Dec 2016 - 02:07 AM, said:
I'm not that familiar with Celestine tbh, but yes the inquisitor has been out of the loop quite a while apparently.

During the Palatine Crusade there was this Sister Repentia. When she was laid in a row after a battle with all the other dead Repentia, the Sisters noticed she was still alive. The story says that the light of the Emperor shone in her eyes. Anyway, that was Celestine of course. She ends up leading the Crusade, and demands they land on some random moon and dig under the altar of some random collapsed chapel. They find a passage down under the altar, and Celestine goes in, telling the other Sisters not to follow her under any circumstances. She's gone till the next day, when she emerges wearing the Armour of Saint Katherine and wielding the Ardent Blade

Well, I was having beers with my GW source the other night and the topic got onto the Fall of Cadia and the coming story arcs and releases. He claims to know out to mid-2017 what is going to happen, but obviously needs to remain tight lipped. I did get the following tidbits though:

Outside of Celestine and her Geminii bodyguards, there are no plans in the next 5 months for any SoB boxes/kits.

The first loyal Primarch to 'wake up' will be Roboute, and not Russ/Lion/Vulkan as many predict. Blankets will be counted! Spirits will be lieged!

Trayzn is likely going to be releasing a 'Salamander' from prison. With a twinkle in his eye he quoted: 'It might not be Vulkan though.'

In regards to the Triumvirate of the Imperium on Cadia, there will be others. Think of an Eldar team containing an Eldar/Dark Eldar combo, with the Exodites thrown in.

That's all he could say. Discuss away. He's a very good source who gave me the Imp Agents + Traitor Legion info a few weeks back, so I have very good confidence that his info is legit.

Edit: A lot of speculation in the last few hours is leaning towards Dorn being woken in Trazyn's collection noting the presence of Imp Fists and Black Templars. This is purely speculation, but has anyone thought of Sigismund? The lore says that Sigismund went hunting for Abaddon after the Battle for Terra and was never see again....this is purely speculation on my behalf, but it would certainly tie-in the choice of the Black Templars/Imp Fist matchup on Cadia, wouldn't it?
